it will only be worth it....if you wanna buy the current macbook, as it may drop in price.

if you want the NEW model.........it will be OVERPRICED.

common sense people.
common sense.

apple dont care about the customers.
they dont pay our rent.

they are money making evil corporation. heh

i heard they dropped price of iphone by LARGE amount within 2 weeks of its launch. cashing in on the new product.

just cause its new, doesnt mean it will be better.
i mean ........the operating system will be the same.

I believe apple gave out refunds for the difference in the price when they first dropped the iphone price.

"Doesn't" .... common sense bob, common sense....

-and when has apple updated a computer and left it with the same specs?? Yes, newer will be better... maybe not by a lot, but it won't be the same or worse....

-and i do believe the current rumor is that this new macbook will be $100 less. So it may not be as cheap as a current refurb, but it will not be "OVERPRICED"

newer doesnt mean better....
new = bugs
everything APPLE make is overpriced........lol
cmon..............especially NEW products..........

the ONLY reason they come out with new products is TO MAKE MONEY from people buying.

the only way to get something back and even out the balance a bit, it to NOT pay for software.........lol.........

you get what you pay for ....

lol
no you dont get what you pay for.

maybe.......i guess theres some thigs that are hard to put value on......

expertise, years of research and develpment, branding, goodwill?
etc etc

safari = zoo = lol

so i can rename it?
im gonna rename it to st.anger

if you need it now, get it.
if you can stand to wait, then wait.

but i personally would get the last version of the "old" design, with all the kinks worked out, than get the one fresh off the patent table with possible flaws and kinks. when has anybody released a new product and it ran flawlessly from day one?

I wholeheartedly agree, the original MacBook had a lot of problems, the current one has had them all fixed. This is true for every product ever released.

But then I would say that as I am typing on one and hope for a whole new MB so that mine will remain the best of the 'old' MB line!

I disagree.

New releases from Apple are usually better value than products that have been around for a while. When it's just been released, you get the latest technology at a reasonable price for a quality product. As time passes, you get a product that is no longer the "latest and greatest" but the price does not usually get reduced. Value is therefore at an optimum immediately after the release of a new product.

hahahaha
new is better value?
hahahaha
same principe of buying brand new car from showroom or buying second hand.
"reasonable price" = youre rich right? im not, so i dont think like that. sorry.

uhhhh.... when you take a mac out of the store it doesn't devalue the computer by thousands of dollars, apple's resell value is very high...

yeah true i agree.
but the price of NEW products will be HIGH. just because they CAN be. and people will still buy. look at the iphone people sales. people are so sucked into the brand they lose all mind and sight and sense, they just WANT the products, at ANY cost. sad really. marketing branding advertising = apple is a helluva brand.

if i was rich i wouldnt care. i would buy top of range macbooks customed to highest specs.

but when youre normal working class people, you need to get good deals. and good value for money = refrurbished and clearence items, and wating for price drops. buying a brand new model ANYTHING is usually paying over the odds.

Normally, its as simple as buy it when you need it. BUT now, you know
new major upgrades are coming mid September. It is just stupid to buy
one now. The current ones will be cheaper and likely the new ones will be
so cool you'll want them.

actually, its not so much if you need it now as if you need it 2-3 weeks from now.

i just ordered a new blackbook and the earliest its supposed to get here is august 21.

damn, if you need one within 3 weeks i would order now.

august 21???? thats long man.

i bought this morning, and if it aint at home today,
it should be next day.

if you customise it may take longer.
if from store, walk out wiht it!

well now it says the ipod should ship tomorrow, also, the only thing i changed was that i added a mini dvi-dvi adapter, so that shouldn't change anything.

then again, the shipping time on apple's site is just an estimate, it said the same thing for the ipod and now i should get it by thursday/friday.

does anyone know the operating hours of the online store? like when they ship things and such.

of course you could buy one mail order just before the new release, then return it again within 14 days if you change your mind!

man not the macs are overpriced talks again. If you really compare the hardware apple might not have the best but it's modest and when you compare it to dell with the same hardware it's pretty equal.

But pretty much all of us buy macs for osx and the design.
And to me I would pay a few hundred more to use a mac that has Osx that's more efficient and longer to use since it's such a joy.

Plus mac users usually don't upgrade as frequently as pc users (in general) since most of pc users are focused on the hardware to get the best gaming. While there are mac users that still has a PowerBook g3 or g4 that still love and enjoy using.
