Making the call is your job -- not anyone else's. I went ahead and purchased Navigon 2.0. Do whatever works for you.
Why is it that when someone asks a question that is meant to evoke other's opinions someone like you thinks it's necessary to explain that it's the OP's responsibility to make a decision? I don't understand this. OF COURSE I have to make the decision, but I want to make the most educated decision I can. I'm going to base my decisions on collected information both from here and from what I find on the web.

But thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

imo, whatever you see in this thread or whatever, navigon has had the best track record for the best gps app. it works very well and it never messes up any of my routes. i couldnt be happier with it. good luck with your decision.

I used Navigon exclusively for almost a year and then switched to TomTom. I prefer TomTom mainly for its UI and IQ routes. Navigon's interface was quite clunky the last time I tried it whereas I find TomTom's layout more logical.

I used them both side by side for a few months but ultimately deleted Navigon from my phone and from my computer even though I paid for both.

You should consider Garmin. They own Navigon now, but their app is leaps and bounds better and personally I like the interface better than TomTom too.

I have the Garmin U.S.A. app and I'm not too crazy about it. The ONE issue that I don't like is that you have to be navigating somewhere for the map to update, to show the current position. So for example if you are in a unfamiliar city and you are just driving around the Garmin is not too useful unless you setup a specific destination.

Garmin seems giving voice prompts too late sometimes so if you are not staring at the screen you might miss some of the turns. That happened to me several times already. Also the voice of Garmin is scratchy.
