Most of the people who are waiting in line are not for personal use, its for resale!!

For personal use.. order one online and wait for 2-3 weeks.. or you can pay premium to get one from the people who are waiting inline

Horsehooey. You're grossly exaggerating on both counts.

See the ipad2 shipping megathread for the reality of what happened to people who ordered on launch day; many waited a week or less for delivery, some a week and a half if they ordered late on launch day. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1114127/

Some areas did have a bunch of scalpers stand in line; but only the myopic would think that applied everywhere.

I was thinking wether or not to wait in line for 5 hours and get it on launch day but i hear the lines and people aren't worth it. So should i just wait a couple weeks til' i get it?

Should you wait in line is your decision and should not be dependent on what others (excluding your family) think. If you enjoy waiting in lines and having a discussion with (potentially) Apple fans, then it might be worth it.

I understand being excited about getting a cool new tool, but there's better things to be doing rather than waiting in a line. If I've waited months for something, I can wait a few extra days and ship it right to my house and avoid wasting time sitting in line. If you think the experience is worth it, go for it, but its probably something that's unnecessary.

What to do!?

I'm in tha same boat! I just want one on release day one way or another but I just don't know what I should do either!?!?

I could have sworn they had a pre-order. So you were only able to order online on launch day?

Trust me, if there had been a preorder I would have utilized it. Online orders opened on launch day, and by the time you could buy one in a store (5pm), online shipping times were up to 2-3 weeks. By the end of the weekend they were at 4-6 weeks.

I guess I got lucky on iPad 2. I showed up at a local Apple Re-seller only 3 hours prior to launch, and was 4th in line. They had over 200 devices available, so everyone in line walked away happy.

I've actually enjoyed the Line Up experience, and have done it for iPhone 4, iPad 2, and iPhone 4S. Sure, there is a portion of people in line that are scalpers, but there are also some great Apple fans too. The worst was iPhone 4S, where most of the people in line were there to re-sell, and the Apple Store did a terrible job of crowd control.

As others have mentioned, iPad 2 did NOT have pre-orders.

Ok number one calm down and number two whats the point in waking up one day and seeing a ipad 3 commercial so whats the fun in that its better to talk about the posibillities so stop being a kill joy and number 3 how did you find my 2nd thread are you stalking me or something?

Number 4, posting multiple threads on the same topic is generally considered spamming, even if that wasn't your intent. In other words, it's rather impolite to do and won't win you many friends in an internet community. So instead of copping an attitude you really don't have a right to take, just apologize for making multiple threads on the same subject and then everyone can move on.

I am sincerely sorry for my actions and I didn't mean to but it isn't his right to take up a attitude for something that isn't an extremely wrong thing so people can just stop blaming ALL of this on me and it says newbie on my profile for a reason

I guess it all depends on where you are--I'm in NY and I know where NOT to go. All that "standing on line for hours" stuff--there's nothing wrong with it--to each his own. I'm equally as excited, and yes--I need to have mine on launch day as well, but I can (and have) walk(ed) away with all my iDevices without spending hours online.

I will order as many online as I can. AT&T, Verizon, Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Apple.

I will keep which ever one I want and sell the rest on ebay to someone who must have for a price.

Well, I wasn't trying to say that you deserved to get hassled (I haven't seen the other thread), but just like others need to understand you're a newbie, you also have to understand why you're getting the attitude from some. Copping an attitude back just only makes it last longer. Just learn from the honest mistake, ignore those giving you flack, and it'll go away on its own.
