spinnerlys Guest Feb 24, 2010 #2 That is perfectly normal. More threads about this issue. I currently have a VM size of 165GB with nine open applications.

Click to expand... I read through most of those threads and the majority of them very from 2006-2008 which is why I posted. So is VM just the amount of virtual ram that COULD be used if needed?

gr8tfly macrumors 603 Feb 24, 2010 #5 My post in a [very] recent thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/9322881/ VM size is not what you think; it's nothing to worry about.

MacManiac76 macrumors 68000 Feb 24, 2010 #6 The confusion usually arises because many consider VM to be synonymous with swap file, which it is not. I remember when I used Windows that virtual memory and swap file were usually considered the same thing, on Mac OS X...not so much. 😎
