Like I've been trying to tell people:

This one-handed business is a bit over-rated. If you want the keyboard to be one-handed size, then widen the darn phone and add that customizability to the options. You can select a keyboard that is just as wide as current phone, with extra space to the left or right depending on your dominant hand. You can still type with your thumb while enjoying a larger screen.

No, THIS is ignorance. It's very clear that the taller screen is just as unreachable, if not MORE, than making the screen a bit wider.
Exactly! 4.2" would be more or less the same in one handed operation, but much better to look at!

The funny part is, the same fanboys who now thinks 4" is perfect, were in heaven with 3,5" before iPhone 5 came out... They will be in heaven with practically any size. They don't believe us, It's just Apple needs to tell them, and it's like 100% sure the screen will change in size again some time in the future. They bought iPhone 5 so they "have to" think it's perfect regarding every aspect, even though it's really not that perfect, but still good :)

It's not just about one handed operation...it's also about not disrupting the existing app ecosystem. Can't change screen size all the time...well they could "water down" the ppi increasing the size and decreasing density

Actually, I think the better example is the "heavier/lighter" switch.

Before the 5, the heavier iPhone 4/4S gave the device heft and a premium feel. But now it's lighter than the competition... also hooray!

Trust me when I tell you, when Apple goes to extreme lengths to scan hundreds of different ear canals to make a better headphone, they go to even more of an extreme in determining which size phone will be best for the majority of human hands.

Keeping the width it is now is perfect. The height increase is exactly what was needed.

This is design.

So what if they scan a hundered different hands, cuticles, fingers, whatever... that is great and all for exactly what you said... "determining what size phone will be best for the majority of human hands."

So they found the best size medium T-shirt... I guess we should stop selling XL, L, and S T-shirts.... for that matter.... lets stop selling any pant sizes that arent 32 waist...
You want a baseball glove? I'm sure you will be happy with the medium size, it fits the majority of people in the world.

I do understand what you are saying... the iPhone really is a marvel of engineering and HAS been manufactured to the best size possible for the majority of people.... I don't think the 4" model is a mistake... I think we need more options. The normal iphone, and also an "iPhone XL" of sorts. (see my above post.)

Wouldn't that split the apps ecosystem? Let's keep it one size. This is the XL the 4S is the regular

This isn't about opinions, it's about FACTS.

BTW, ya know what us professionals call those "white bars to the sides of webpages" that you spoke about? "Laziness in programming".

Awwww, you really got me there :p

Like I said, no one browses normal webpages in portrait mode. Even you, Mr. Bigshot, wouldn't browse this very forum in portrait mode without going to a mobile version or using an App.

I do all the time, including right now.

I'm done with you.
