Should iPhone have a hole for phone strap?

Should the iPhone have a small hole at the corner(top or bottom) so you can have the option of a hand strap?

I personally would love if Apple included this in the iPhone design. I know you can easily get a case/bumper that has this, but bare is better. It would be nice to take photos/video without being self conscious about dropping it, and having a strap around your finger or wrist would take away that worry.

Aesthetically, I just have an assumption most people wouldn't want it :rolleyes: And, judging by your poll, everybody except one person (presumably you) doesn't want it.

Seriously, I don't see how a small strap hole on the side corner would make the iPhone any less attractive. It's not like you have to keep the strap in. The choice to included one would be nice.

It's now 11 and I'm willing to bet the ratio will stay the same regardless of the number of voters. Furthermore, nobody except you has even expressed remote interest in this. I've never heard a request for this feature before, so I think it's safe to say that only a minority wants it, so you can buy a case.

The reason I don't want one? I just don't think it looks good. You might beg to differ, but I think most people would agree that a hole or hook (that they would never use) mars the design a little bit.

Fair enough, but I put my money on it that if Apple did make a hole, many users would take advantage of it. The same way many users are taking advantage of the front cam. And Apple would most likely make it very minimal/barely visible.

Yeah, sorry if I came off mean or condescending. Knowing Apple's design, if they implemented it in a unobtrusive/minimal way, I would be fine with it (although I would never use it). I still doubt many would use it, but if Apple includes a strap with the phone, you never know.
 
Haha, 23 to 1 so far.

OP, unfortunately though, it just doesn't seem like Apple's design to have a hole for a string. Don't worry though, there are a lot of things users want but they can't serve everyone so we just have to go with the flow.

The 1 yes is you so obviously no one wants a hole in their phone.
 
Quite frankly, I don't want it, doesn't mean it is a bad idea though, if it had it, in a very subtle manner, I wouldn't mind, but a bit chunk missing off the phone, like a lot of the SE and Nokias had, would be horrible.

Exactly, I bet most are picturing some gigantic hole when they looked at this thread.

I can't find any better mockups, but something like this that's just a bit smaller wouldn't hurt at all. And I honestly think the "build and they will come" logic applies. Sure there might not be many thinking about this, but nobody can say many wouldn't use it.

I have dropped mine once or twice over the years and I never said or wished for a strap. (Incidentally, there was no damage to the phone). But as a rule, I'm quite good at holding on to my phone and taking care of it. My 3GS still looks as good today as it did on launch day.
 
Definitely a no for me. hell, if I could have wireless headphones, I would say no to having a head phone jack. The less holes in my phone the better, because it tells me we are getting out of the stone age and everything is going wireless ;)
