I've seen no indication yet that AT&T is going to offer the iPhone 4 at $399/$499 for mid-contract folks like they did for the 3GS. So far, it looks like you either qualify for a full subsidy ($199/$299) or you pay the no-commitment price of $599/$699.

Here is the costs.

It was announced that ALL current iPhone users can upgrade 6 months early. So if you have to wait two months to get it, you can still upgrade. If you can't upgrade until February normally, you will be able to upgrade in August.

Wait does this apply to uk?
And if so, I am already eligible for a 6 month early upgrade due to being on o2 and paying over £80 pound a month (this means that I can upgrde this august), can this be stacked ontop to make a 1 year early upgrade?

Where does it have the date of upgrade eligibility?

This is what I see "As a valued AT&T customer, you may be eligible for a standard upgrade on this line, with reduced equipment pricing when signing a 2-year commitment. Click 'Upgrade Eligibility' to view your upgrade options."

I have no idea how I would be ready for a full upgrade this early other than the fact we have been on this family plan for 6-7 years and it has 5 phones on it and are in good standing/

Other phones on the family plan say don't say 'standard' upgrade.

I got my 3gs the day it came out. I planned on giving the 3gs to someone in my family plan and buying the iPhone 4.

I'm still trying to figure out why I don't get an upgrade. ATT usually lets you upgrade to a new phone every year. I should be eligible some time this month, but ATT is showing that I have to wait until 2/20/2011. We pay over $200 a month. I just don't get it. I might as well switch to Sprint and save OVER $50 a month and get WAYYYYY Better features. I really want the new iPhone, but I don't think I will get it this time unless I get it for the $200-$300 price.

Let us know when you give up your iPhone.

And let me guess... You either

a) made the cut or
b) don't want the phone

because these seem to be the only people preaching the "entitlement" crap

The correct choice is "A". But I have a 3G and made the choice when the 3Gs came out last year and I was hearing the same stories "OMG they won't let me upgrade from the 3G", to not upgrade to the S as I had a 2yr contract and figured 4 would be a larger jump for me than just simply going to the 3Gs. I don't believe a company should deal with entitled brats year in and year out complaining about not being eligible when eligibility is clearly outlined and a contract is signed. I have honored my end of the deal in AT&T's eyes, therefore I'm eligible for the upgrade and the $18 fee waived, it's called integrity.

Amen.

Either play the game as it stands or wait til "next year" like many of us did or had to do when the 3GS was released.

In the past, i have heard of everyone and their mothers getting bumps, I did not get one. I wa not mad, and did not expect one, i signed a contract.

This tiem I did get a bump (I was due in Sept., not am due now). I like that, but do not expect it at all.

As of right now I am SOL, I cannot upgrade until 3/2011. Looks like I am waiting until iPhone 5.

As much as I would love an iPhone 4, I am fine with waiting, there is always something better right around the corner. If I got an iPhone 4, I will want an iPhone 5 next year.

life is not fair, get use to it

I don't even see how you not getting something free is not fair...

If you are at a store, who is giving out free whizdigs to the first 500 customers, and you are number 501, would you complain/feel cheated? I would hope not. Not exactly the same, but similar. If you expected ATT to give you an early upgrade, you were not only fooling yourself, but also need to get a reality check.

They are giving the upgrade early to try and get people to stay with ATT and the iphone.
