Interesting if true as I honestly didn't know that. Which apps are in the store?

waze
tom tom
motion x
garmin
mapquest

To name just a few with out even looking. If you look at the app store, you may notice that there is an entire category called "navigation".

Unless you are on iOS 6 and they took it out or something... but I haven't heard anything along those lines.

Unless you have proof that its been held up/rejected, instead of simply not being ready, why would you be concerned about anything?

There's a reason there are no other Mapping applications in the App Store. It's currently against Apple's guidelines as it provides "duplicate functionality."

This statement proves you are trolling. There is an entire category devoted to Navigation.

If you can't even be bothered to use the App Store, why would you make claims that Apple is restricting it?

WHAA??? There's lots of 'em, with different types of intersecting functionality, like TomTom, Navigon, GPX Drive, and Waze for navigation....and then there's all the Yelp-type stuff that has mapping with more of a search-related functionality.

Regards,
Tom
ADDED LATER: Oops, didn't mean to pile on -- I see others already addressed this.

No they're not. Your title reads like its already been rejected, and that's misleading because we would definitely know if that were the case; it would be VERY public information.

And to answer your question, "no, we shouldn't be concerned yet." Hell, iOS 6 isn't even rolled out yet!

Chill.

The title is "Should we be concerned that Google Maps has possibly been rejected from the AppStore?" Keyword: possibly. So, no, the title does not read like it has been confirmed that it has already been rejected. Unless the title was changed?

I thought those apps all used the built in maps. I don't have any of them on my device so wasn't sure.

The title was changed (see post #9). Had you read the thread, you would know this.

LOL, laughable what do you call TomTom, Navigon and the other half dozen GPS apps in the app store?

How do you know it was?
How do we know it doesn't cause baldness?

If you know so little about mapping apps why did you assume Apple was to blame? It's just as likely that Google is trying to give Android a competitive advantage by waiting with submitting their app. But of course Apple us the one being restrictive right?

Maps with IOS6

Personally, I am not concerned about differences between Google and Apple
MAPS as I do not use them. Here in South Africa I use Sygic (that uses the same map base as both MAPS packages) for turn by turn navigation. It has far more information than either of the other two packages.

There are also packages that give satellite maps etc. I use a suite of apps each specifically designed for specific needs.

I feel that Apple should focus on hardware and operating systems at which I think they are great. Leave applications to software developers.

No they don't, they're both asking a question based on the information we have. I'm asking if we should be concerned being that it's not in the app store yet.

You insinuated that Apple had rejected it without a shred of knowledge or proof. You're guessing that it could've been rejected because it doesn't exist.

I don't own an iPhone 5. Does that mean it doesn't exist?
