Because TVs are not the same thing as computer displays. The pixels are much larger (and this generally means the panel is easier to produce), many TVs have limited controls for colors etc. I have a nice 40" Sony HDTV, but I would never try to use it for professional graphics work.
That said, I would not buy the Apple 24" either. LED doesn't really make it better and for the money there are nicer ones available.
