I understand where you guys are coming from regarding your comment with regards to using any cover for a SS Apple watch. As you all quoted it is up to the owner. I got the SS watch because of the sapphire glass which is supposed to be scratch proof. I did not get the stainless steel watch for the stainless steel case although it has a nice finish but I would rather it not get scratched up from normal use so that is why I put a cover on it to protect it's finish. If I was more concerned with showing off a watch I would wear my Rolex Submariner or Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black watch instead.
I used to have an Omega Seamaster. I bought it and wore it because I liked it. Showing off the watch did not enter the decision making process. Over time the watch case received a couple of nicks and a few scratches. I was not shocked or concerned. It was a tool, not a museum piece. I would no sooner try to hide or repair those signs of age and usage than I would use botox, a face lift or a hair transplant to hide my own aging.

not sure what you mean by "scratch proof", but there have been threads here and it happened to myself: the sapphire screen CAN scratch. it is certainly much more resistant to scratches compared to the ion-x.

Strictly my personal opinion....putting a plastic or rubber or even carbon fiber case on a watch, particularly a stainless steel one is so wrong. They always look terrible and often make the watch look like a toy. But, whatever works for the owner.

Then why make these comments rather than just scrolling past as this thread is all about showing off your Apple watch. It is not about getting anyone's approval on how their watch is set up. It is supposed to be all about showing off your apple watch. Who cares about the negativity of your post. Better off keeping your opinions to yourself then and move on.

You're right. Anything can scratch if you hit the surface hard enough. Gorilla glass which is on Aluminum Apple Watches scratch much much easier than sapphire glass. This is part of the reason I chose the SS apple watch when I finally got mine. Perhaps I should then look into getting a screen protector for my sapphire glass as well since I have already placed a cover on my watch case . . .

you can do as you like/prefer, personally never have and never will, but this thread might help:
screen protectors - naysayers stay out

ive got a glass protector on my Ultra 2 .. I dont care what anybody else thinks lol

£800 watch .. If I want it to look pristine, thats my business.

Ive got a Tag Heuer thats worth several times the AWU2 so if I want to be a flash so and so, I'll wear that. I just want to look after my things, I see no issue with it.

At the end of the day, it's us wearing them right? :)

I was commenting on the fact that you were doing anything but showing off your Apple watch. You were showing off an unattractive case. A few of us simply pointed out that we do not care for cases on Apple watches. Simply our opinions which differ from yours. And I will certainly not keep my opinions to myself just because they do not match yours. Good evening.

Exactly! Enjoy your watch just as you have yours set up. I think it's okay :)

That's your personal opinion and honestly you don't represent all Apple Watch users and that is a very good thing ;) Opinions are like as****** . . . everyone has them. I was not asking for yours. You have a nice day. :)

Don’t worry about what others think. I’ve got a matte glass screen protector on my Ultra 1, not so much to protect the screen, but because when sitting on our couch, my wife used to complain about the light reflecting off the screen and shining in her face. The matte screen protector solved that issue for me.

You both make valid points. To be honest, the best way I can explain it to people is that screen protectors for devices, not just your Apple Watch, are like using protection with your partner. Some choose to use protection to stay safe, while others risk it and might end up making an expensive mistake.

Indeed, people's choices are entirely their own 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I agree with this point... when my parents passed, I inherited a Seth Thomas mantle clock c 1925... it was my grandmother's clock, and as a child I remember it sitting on her hall table. When I got it, it was non-functioning and I took it to a local clock maker to rebuild the mechanism... he noticed several scratches in the walnut case and on the metal clock face, and I was adamant that those marks were part of the character of the piece, and should not be repaired. Incidentally, the clock maker told me of a similar clock that he recently "repaired" for a customer. This customer insisted on replacing the vintage spring mechanism with a quartz timepiece... there's just no accounting for some people. :D

The thing is that when you post something on an open public forum, you are opening it up for feedback and opinions... Most of the time they are going to be positive, but sometimes you will get negative feedback because different people have different tastes and different opinions... If you are too fragile to handle negative feedback and differing opinions, then perhaps you may want to avoid posting on a public forum

On the contrary, posting on a public forum doesn't necessarily mean you should be open to all types of feedback. While constructive criticism can be valuable, it's essential to maintain a respectful and supportive online environment. Negative feedback should be expressed in a constructive manner rather than resorting to harsh criticism, which can deter individuals from sharing their thoughts and ideas.

I disagree. Posting on a public forum does, in fact, open the poster up to reactions from other users. Posting any comment does not guarantee only positive responses... regardless of what it is... there will always be someone somewhere who will disagree or dislike the posting... responders needn't be harsh or critical, but at the same time, we all are entitled to our opinions, and we are all free to agree, disagree or simply not respond. And sometimes the original poster infers the "tone" of the response irrespective of the responder's actual intended tone.

Back on topic, I would not put a cover or shield on my Apple Watch, but would not criticize someone else from doing so.
