I see a white gradient/shadow on the second hand
There is a gradient for a few seconds, then it fades to a darker face. Maybe that’s related to the auto dimming face settings.
I count five seconds before it fades out.

Thank you so much for the insight. I’m still
Trying to learn the ins and outs of this watch, seems like there’s a lot to it. I’m on the ground nearby the Apple campus so I wonder maybe if this is the ground level above sea level? Either way, thank you all again

AWU 2 (new to Apple Watches…can someone explain to me what the 214ft is?)
Very interesting…
My gauge is filled in about the same as yours. Virtually half of the watch face.

The BIG difference is I live at 5,000 feet and my numbers at the top are 10,000ft and 3,000 meters with my mark at about halfway. I’ll half to head up to about 8k-10,000 ft one of these days when I get time and see what it looks like then.

I wonder when I’m at 10,000 ft if the top number will change to 20,000 ft and the watch will still show as “halfway”

This is a photo of the AOD for the Solar Analog face. Either a bright light source or flash is making it look like a normal face.

Interesting. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work - both the Seconds hand and the gradient remain in place no matter what. Oh well...

Yes it auto-dims after five seconds of no user input. You can set the Wake Duration after a screen tap time to either 15 or 70 seconds in the Watch app on the iPhone.

I admit I didn’t go through the thread but wanted to ask if anyone has this band? I’m on the fence about ordering it! These screenshots were taken from YouTube videos. So… opinion greatly appreciated!! Anyone have this and care to share how they like it?
This is the band I got my Starlight S9 with. I love it! It is so bright and happy. My "good vibes" band! A must if you love Starlight or Pink (or yellow)

PS: I just saw in the meantime you got yours! Excellent choice - enjoy! 🤗

Of course it will adjust. The scaling is dynamic. And fortunately, because it would be stupid to show let's say a 50 ft/m elevation on an axis with a 10.000 max value on such a relatively small display.
