Guys, I want to see this

Gold SS with the Taupe or coffee brown Leather Loop

Someone’s got to have it!

Surprised to see so many people rocking the sport loop band. It’s really an awesome band.. my favorite out of all of them.
My one concern with the sport loop, especially the seashell one, is how it ages over time and how people clean it to keep it looking good, not causing rashes or smelling, etc. I’ve read on Nike’s site to machine wash it cold inside a zippered pocket with regular detergent, then air dry it. Seems like it needs more care than the sport band, which I just clean with a non-abrasive wipe occasionally.

This is why I have purchased a few from China Express (amazon) that I put on my watch when I head to the gym.

44mm SBSS with forest green leather loop. Looks great but you’re looking at nearly $1K worth of Apple product here. TBH I am probably going to return the loop. It’s not worth the money. I love the SBSS but the price pains me deeply.

Rant time... $529 is way too much for an aluminum/glass watch. My brain says absolutely not worth it. $749 it a lot of ***** money for a smart watch/fitness tracker, and $220 more than the “lesser” model that does the exact same thing. But I feel more like I am getting my money’s worth buying the SS and getting the premium materials (SS & sapphire), which is more likely to hold up and make this a multi-year purchase. I’m just having a hard time with the expense. Anyone else wanna talk about it?

I’m In the same boat. Feel exactly the same. I actually have both aluminum space grey and SS gold right now. One of it needs to be returned to the store in a Week. Don’t know which one.

Keep the aluminum. The cheaper model does the exact same thing.

It all comes down to your financial situation.

I bought SS for Series 0 and had it until this Series 4. It lasted me 3.5+ years and the screen is *flawless* still. Literally, flawless.

My finances are in excellent shape and I don't mind spending a premium for the better materials and peace of mind - I banged the heck out of my series 0 and I'm confident this new series 4 will have a flawless screen as well.

End of the day it was 550 vs 750.. because I wanted 44mm and cellular. 200 isn't too much of a premium for sanity over 3+ years.. then again if I was a young kid making 30-40k a year, I doubt I would even be buying an Apple Watch.

All relative. If you're this gutted over it, probably opt for the cheaper variant.

I don’t think I can justify the price tag for the SS with cellular because I don’t see myself using or needing cellular. I’d love the sapphire glass on the front since I hate scratches on my watches, and I know I’ll scratch it. I have time to think about though so who knows what I’ll end up with. LOL

I had the same buyers remorse on a $529 44mm aluminum. It was just too much money for a product that’s gonna be worth almost nothing in a few years. Also I’m a regular watch wearer and not having an always on display was the nail in the coffin when I have to make this GIANT DELIBERATE movement just to check the damn time. Then the thing was coming on all the time while at work typing when I didn’t want it to. Finally I felt it was just another distraction especially with the new watch faces. Switching it to a simple face made me think why do I have this thing then? My regular stainless watch works way better as a watch, looks 50X better and costs half as much and has sentimental value. Overall the Apple Watch is just nowhere near worth it for 500+ compared to a phone or iPad. Not for something that’ll be obsolete in a couple years. Most people who love the watch don’t seem to care about telling the time by which the Apple Watch sucks for actually telling the time easily without the giant wrist flicks. And here they are upping the price of it too this year along with the phones.

If they ever figure out always on displays I’ll revisit it, otherwise I’ll put my money toward a new phone that’s long overdue.

Feel the same. I bought a series 2 SS (after one year for less than 50% of original purchase price). Trying to sell now and I don’t even think I can get 50% of what I paid. The resale value once the next Watch comes out is horrid. The SS looks a lot nicer but it’s obvious now how Apple is treating these watches. They are making new and better ones every year and each new version right now is exponentially better. I’m struggling to decide what to do. I have some nice Apple bands Milanese and leather loop all of which i got 60% off retail.

True. I love the look of this 4 and it’s my first watch (I’ve waited a while for a version I really liked, finally). But the fact I purposely paid $200+ more for steel (I don’t need LTE) is nuts, the hardened glass is a nice touch. Also will get some $ back when selling whenever that may be. So it’s not a complete sunk cost right?

Same boat. Especially since I recently switched to Xfinity Mobile and they don’t support wearables anyway. I went cellular with my series 3 and I can count on one hand the number of times I left my phone at home. I’ll probably pick up the space gray 44mm. They are readily in stock at my Apple stores.

Anyone have the Apple leather loop band? I got the Cape Cod blue one it’s very nice.. also the White Nike band and Cape Cod sport loop and Seashells sport loop. Last piece I’m hunting is a silver link band either saving up for apples dragon scales or going to get something that lasts longer then the army of Amazon 40 dollar bands I’ve bought over the series as I started on series 0. Anyone have or know of a really nice band similar to the Apple Link SS band you could recommend?
I did a search on ebay when I was looking for the Apple Link SS band - the genuine item - because I didn't want to pay full (over!-)price. I found them in various grades from "AA" to "BB" or lower. The "AA" quality (which are supposed to be pretty much flawless) sell for around $220 approx, while the "A" which might have some faint scratches are priced around $150. My understanding is that scratches can be buffed out of the stainless steel (not the black version, of course).

I never did buy one, what I did to get the link band while at the same time upgrading my Watch, was buy a used Series 2 SS with the original Apple Link Band on Swappa in late 2017 once the S2 prices had nicely dropped. Mint condition, and the band included, all told $475. Which is less than the price of a band alone (I think they have now dropped the price on Apple to $350, but they're still expensive). So my Apple Watch Series 2 essentially cost $125, if you use the new band price of $350.

Anyhoo...unfortunately, I really wanted the SS Gold this year, so I can't use the old link band. Hopefully, Apple will consider making a new GOLD SS Link band. I'm sure that if they do, it will be priced at least like the Black SS Link band—$100 higher than the 'plain' SS band. ;)

But, I am really happy with the Milanese Loop, it is much more comfortable than the Link Band (which isn't uncomfortable, just less so than the Milanese).

In Canada the difference between GPS aluminum and SS is CAD$452 (587 vs 1039) which is a lot. Plus I don’t need LTE at all on my watch. Hence I’m trying to figure out whether spending that much extra cash for SS

True. I love the look of this 4 and it’s my first watch (I’ve waited a while for a version I really liked, finally). I agree, it is a lot to spend on something that will be functional at very best for 3-4 years. My original Series 0 (which became a Series 1, replaced at no cost by Apple after 1.5 years of the Series 0, when the screen detached) lasted just under 1.5 years.

The replacement Series 1 (which cost me $0, I didn't even have AppleCare and my warranty was long expired) received in early 2017 is STILL working—and while it is slow, it is very useable. Of course, the resale value is like $60 at most. But, if we look at my original purchase date of September 2015 - for a Sport Aluminum model Series 0, that Watch (replacement) is still entirely functional. So that is 3 years. I'm going to keep it updated to see how well it functions in one more year—I'd like to see if I can really get 4 years out of that Apple Watch!

The Series 2 Stainless Steel which I own was released in September 2016. I bought mine used in December 2016, after the Series 3 had been out for a few months. This was so that I could reduce my cost while improving the Watch experience with a faster processor. That watch is now 2 years and 2 months old, and functions very well. I plan to keep this one updated...unless I decide to sell it. I can't make up my mind yet, it may not be worth selling, if I get so little in return. I'll have to see what the market is like for sellers.

The Series 4 Stainless Steel (or Aluminum, since the specs are the same) is tremendously faster and smoother than the Series 2! I can't make a comparison to the Series 3. But I am really glad that I skipped the series 3! I am planning to keep the Series 4 as long as possible. I spent a total of $849 plus tax (which in NYC is a not inconsiderable 8.875%). So, approximately $925. Which is what I have spent for traditional watches in the past that still work perfectly and are in beautiful shape, unscratched sapphire crystal faces, all steel and Swiss—and in the case of my favorite one, purchased in 1995 (23 years ago).

So, yeah, these smart watches depreciate quickly, and have a limited lifetime, unlike a traditional watch.

I went through a number of 3rd party link bands and needed to scrap them all in the end and go for the Apple one. Amazing quality and the design of the link removals etc. deserves a buy

I’m looking for a leather loop myself - the current blue might be worth a shot. Haven’t seen any live pictures of it though

I purchased one third party link and the connector broke, after that I found a good deal on a series 0 space black with link and after owning the Apple band I vowed to never buy third party bands.

The leather loop is also an amazing band very classy and feels great on the wrist. I have a white one and smoke gray. The new colors look pretty awesome.
