Yeah mjr1000 isn't doing us any favors lol. I need to add him to my ignore list. ;)
You guys are funny. Problem is I'm still not sure! I think I like the stainless look better day-to-day. It just looks so damn sleek. It also looks a little thinner than the SB for some reason, though just an optical illusion. The thing is I lift weights daily and have small kids at home and just can't get past the durability of the SB. On the other hand, I might be one of the few who actually scratch the DLC and that would bother me. On the SS, supposedly I can polish out most scratches, which I'm all but guaranteed to get. My brain hurts.

just returned the gold SS for the space black SS. love the sleekness, however, don't like how the red ring is very apparent on this model. i do miss the gold's bling factor but the space black is more my personality.
i bought the nike band, thought it would feel more premium but it's very similar to the knockoffs. maybe it will grow on me. the regular sports bands feel more substantial imo.

I had the gold stainless steel for over two weeks actually, but in the end decided that gold just wasn’t for me (even though I still think that the gold is a beautiful watch). So I went back to space black stainless steel, like I had on my series 3. I thought the issue was settled, and then I saw your post LOL. So if your brain hurts, then I must be having an aneurysm.

That is my favorite combo with the SB SS. It really is a love hate with the SB for me. When it looks good with certain bands it looks amazing. I do miss a bit of the bling factor with Silver SS. Really torn.

I guess for me what it comes down to is what kind of look I ultimately want. SSS looks more like "jewelry" to me if that makes sense. The black feels more casual and works best with casual bands IMHO. I'm leaning towards silver now but I know the minute I do I will miss my SB.

I have been torn between all SS models. I actually bought all 3 and need to return 2. I have a couple of mechanical nice watches that are silver. I figured since i want something different that rules out the SS (even though I believe the SS is beautiful). Now its down to GSS and SBSS. At this point, I save my mechanical watches for special occasions. I wore gold today and love it and I wore SBSS the other day and loved it too. So town between the 2... I think if I wanted the "nicer" looking watch for more business wear, I would save the gold, but more casual/sporty, keep the black. I say this because I have a nice blue leather band and I don't think it would go with the black. I think the GSS might be more versatile with non-sport, leather bands. Any input appreciated.

I’ve had both SBSS and SS in the past. SB does look bigger and it doesn’t look good on everyone, but I think in your case it looks great (you’ve got the arm for it, haha). SBSS also fits in nicely with gym attires etc (not that SS is any less appropriate).

Do you plan on buying a lot of “premium” bands? Like Milanese, link, Etc. And do you see yourself wanting to change colours in future iterations of Apple Watch? It’s not a big factor for most people, but I’ve found that all the bands I’ve invested on my series 2 SBSS work amazingly well on my Gold SS. Black is just such a versatile colour that accessories you buy for a SBSS will probably work with any new colour Apple throw at us in the future. Whereas I find all my SS/silver bands are harder to match unless I were to buy another SS/silver watch.

It’s a very minor point of consideration but I’m someone who loves to change up the colours every few generations so I do appreciate black accessories’ versatility. But if you mainly use sport bands/loops then it doesn’t really matter :)

TL;DR. I love being able to reuse my black bands for my gold SS :D

Oh and the DLC on SBSS held up extremely well on my daily gym use over the years.

i felt the gold SS would not age as well as the space black, as it's more of a 'trend' than a 'classic' to me. if apple hadn't hyped up the gold so much would i have liked it as much as i did? and seeing them side by side in the apple store made me reconsider my gold purchase as the black SS under the store lights looked like a tinted silver SS, which was to me very sexy. additionally, even though im very careful with my stuff, the added durability of DLC, and the unknown durability of the PVD, was what sealed the deal for me.
i have about 6 leather loops and i imagine they would look real nice with the space black. ive yet to try them out with the space black, but leather always looks good regardless of the case material.

Age well? These watches only last 2 years before they are obsolete and you want another one.

I have family that still uses my original S0 stainless steel model. I’m about to hand down my S3 SS and the S0 will go to another family member. Given the durability of the SS models they still look great. Admittedly the S0 is much slower but still completely functional.

I think the SS looks better on you and I think it will be plenty durable for what you will be using it for.

The SS is pretty durable, I had a Series 2 for a couple of years (until I just bough the Series 4 SS). I went trail running, mountain biking, football, camping, drunk nights out, holidays and all kinds of other potential nightmares and by the end it was still in very good condition.

It had couple of little scratches on the SS but they never really bothered me as the SS is so shiny the scratches kind of added to it in a way so even though I could have easily polished them out I never bothered. When you see the photos on here of peoples battered up SS I can't imagine the treatment they had to go through to get their watches in that state, but it must have been a *lot* of abuse.

More SS/band combos: Black Sport Loop, Nike pure platinum sport loop (from S3), White sport band

mjr1000: If too hard, no worries, but would you be able to measure the diameter of that chronohraph face in mm (or, heck, measure the diameters of the simple or color)? I'm curious about how the increased screen display also increases the diameters of the classic Apple Watch dial faces. Do they measure about 30 mm across on the 44 mm? (And again, not the screen display itself, but the actual diameter of the dial faces. BTW, if too hard, that's okay -- I think I'm the only AW wearer interested if the dial faces are now bigger than the old faces which are currently tiny and approximately the diameter of a U.S. nickle!

Thank you if you can do! :)

It’s definitely bigger, it goes edge to edge on the new displays. So if it was a nickel, now it’s a quarter. The chronograph face looks terrific. IMO the infograph face (and the modular inforgraph face) is a cluttered mess. Let the hate rain down on me.

Happy there aren't that many GSS meaning it will be more of an original piece and less people will have it.

Disappointed there arent more GSS to get ideas for more bands outside of my forest green leather loop and black sport loop. :)

Don't be too disappointed - those two bands in particular pair fantastically with the gold watch.

I bought a SS Space Black this time going for the gold. Looks awesome with the black band

Just got the SS today. Still have my aluminum space grey. How do I like this combo? Either I keep the SS or the alum grey
