The “fake” bands I bought from some company in China feel identical to the OEM bands. I’ve purchased 5 or 6 from Ellsworth I think the name is. Takes over a month to get them but the quality on the sport loop bands is fantastic.

That's cool. Does the band have details like 40mm/44mm and Assembled in China?

They don’t say anything on them.

Do you guys know if the quality of the fake ones are close to the OEM? Just curious :)

Yes there is a difference. The material of the OEM sport bands are fluoremaster vs knock offs being silicone. The difference in feel and quality is actually pretty significant. The OEM sport bands are also thicker and have more heft and weight to them which makes them definitely feel of higher quality as well vs the thinner lighter knock off bands. The OEM bands have smooth finishes and the knock offs most times you can see the cutouts on the edges of the bands. One more thing the OEM bands fit the watch to perfection where they connect with the watch as in they fill the gap well and line up perfectly with the watch’s edges. Knock offs will look a little thin for the gap and they’re not cut out perfectly with the watch’s edges. I’m definitely not a hater of anyone’s choice of purchase for their personal bands, I’m just pointing out the significant difference between OEM and knock offs because there definitely are differences. This is a clear case of you get what you pay for and more power to you on the choice you decide to make at the end of the day. There is no wrong choice! Lol

And the fake sport loops are longer than the OEM’s I’ve experienced. The fake ones wrap all the way around my wrist and back up to the watch again, the the plastic end is visible and ugly and catches on stuff/loosening the Velcro and potientally having my watch fall off. On the real ones it ends a little past the middle underside of my wrist, so more out of view. I didn’t like the fake sport loops because of this, I thought they’d all be this way, but it’s only a problem with fakes.

Thanks and good to know there is a significant difference between the two. You are right, you get what you pay for.

Also thanks @rebretz000 for sharing the photos, I buy second hand bands sometimes so it is good to know how to identify whether it is genuine or not. Thank you!

When I first got my watch I experimented with a third party band from Nomad and to my dismay one of the bands got really stuck in the watch. I managed to get it out but it was always really sticky. Then I went online and read all these horror stories about Apple refusing to provide Apple care on stuck third party bands and that scared me off.

No real difference at all.
This has been my experience also, but alas, not always. On my last 3rd party band, the band tore itself apart as I was tightening the watch to my wrist. This was a new sport loop, on the first 3 hours of use.

I have at least 6 other 3rd party bands that have no difference in quality to the OEM ones apple has sold me. They have been with me for years already.

Hey. Do it. 😂

I was sold a demo watch from an online seller once (did not know this). I was obviously upset and dismayed. But turns out there’s an eBay guy that you pay a nominal fee to and he resets the watch to normal OS. 🤭

They probably aren’t allowed to give out or sell demo units, so I imagine mine was either stolen or a small shop that had them, gave it out to a family or friend instead of destroying or recycling them with Apple.

Nice. Doubt this unit was actually for sale though, likely just a tag meant to scan for inventory etc. oh well.

S2 Watch I bought still isn’t turning on, probably a dead battery. It’s been on the charger for several hours. $50 and many frustrating hours later, looks like the S1 lives to see another day on my wrist...

My Black Woven Nylon arrived and I love it! And yes it pops off nicely on the Silver Stainless Steel. I’m on a Woven Nylon frenzy right now. I have a Black Stripe one on its way. They’re so affordable and awesome. Man I totally slept on these.

Nice! Where did you find it?

In hindsight I should've bought a black or blue Woven Nylon when they were still available. I didn't think Apple would discontinue this band. I have the Pride Woven Nylon tho :)

Oh. I missed that story. I thought you were riding your series 1 to the ground still 😂 maybe still yet, eh?

I posted a photo of the Navy/Tahoe Blue one not too long ago and it caught some interested and I shared the link to it. A few people here went ahead and bought them. The seller has the Black and Navy/Tahoe Blue for $14.95 each. It’s an amazing deal, they’re brand new in original retail open box. Here’s the link

Not sure how many this seller has left but he has hundreds of them and the listing shows it as “almost gone” so grab them while you can.
