Purchased mine just today at Dover St Market, Ginza Tokyo, Japan.

Would be interesting to see which I ends up liking more in a month although it's highly unlikely that Apple Watch will win. :D

This looks so cool. It seriously makes me want to buy a stainless steel apple watch - just for the looks of it. But I am just a poor student so I cant justify the investment

Well this is interesting. Judging by photos and by the Apple Store App case actual-size demo, I was positive the 38 would be right for me and the 42 way too big. But when I went to the store and tried a couple watches on, the 38 just looked smaller on my wrist than I'd expected it to and honestly the difference between the 38 and the 42 seems much less of a big deal in person. I feel that I have small wrists (it's a toss-up whether the credit card or my wrist was wider), but the 42 just looked better to me in person. Could it be a perspective thing? Like if I could see myself from a few feet away, the size would have a different effect?

I'm also torn between the space gray Sport and the SS with classic buckle (I'd eventually pick up a leather loop, also, if I went this route). I'm having a really hard time justifying to myself spending nearly twice the amount for a different material (especially since it's just stainless steel, which I never thought of as a particularly precious metal). My issue is the sport version looks great for casual wear, I just don't think I'd be real comfortable with it when I'm dressed up or going out on a date or something, whereas the SS does look more "nice" or "dressy" to my eyes. I also don't really like the sport band. Just seems a little clumsy to put on and has that rubber feel against my skin, makes me think I'd sweat under it. Butttt, because the price is so much higher for stainless steel I'm finding myself hesitating on pulling the trigger even though I'm totally sold on the usefulness and coolness of the watch's functions.

Rolex, ten-a-penny.

I had the exact same thoughts as you. I'm a woman .. not sure if you are or not but still..... I got the SG and there was just no way to dress it up ... even adding bracelets, etc. It is very utilitarian and it is shame that the software isn't set up for us to be able to easily switch back and forth between watches because I would love to have both SS and SG.

I ended up ordering the SS with classic band and it will be here tomorrow. I like that I can wear other bands with it and have ordered the Milanese Loop and white sport band.

I have been wearing a Cartier Panthere for many years and I think that plays in to my decision as well. I think anyone who is used to a fine watch just won't be happy with the Sport version... too great a leap.

Just want to add .... I got the SG originally because i wasn't sure I'd like the watch, etc. and wanted to spend as little as possible. But I am totally in love with it and it has become so much a part of my every day life that I felt comfortable going with the more expensive SS ...

----------

if only the stainless steel had a space grey without paying 1k

I heard that Apple has a band exchange. That one is so expensive, of course, because of the band. I wonder if the band exchange allows us to step down to a less expensive band and get a refund on the difference? If that were the case, that space black version could be do-able!

Looks nice. How's the steel joint to the watch? Does it sit flush?

The connector slides in flush - the links for the leather strap extend out and downwards a few mm which gives the watch an illusion of being longer which is nice, especially on the 38mm.

I agree! The classic leather is the perfect band to give a little extra size to the 38mm. I imagine the Milanese would do about the same.

Here's a pic of mine from yesterday's iPhone Genius Bar appointment. My appt took so long, I had time for a mini photo shoot that featured my 42mm black classic buckle.

Looks good. Also looks like you're close to pressing the crown in with the back of your hand. Have you had any issues with that? I'm a little worried about that myself. Will find out in ≥ 10 days.

Nope. Can't press it that way even if I try.

Rolex will always win

38mm white sport. 165 mm wrist and 168 mm wristbone. I could go 42mm probably. But like the white and silver, so i can cancel my space gray 38
What do you think?

it's too small - furthermore, all the watches look smaller in person than pics, so I'm sure it looks even smaller in person.
