Wow … it would be very interesting to see how an Apple Watch with sapphire crystal (i.e. Steel or Titanium) would hold up in your line of work.

Yes, it would (I've wondered the same, many a time).

But, I whack (unintentionally, mind) this thing against stone, brick and solid steel every week, and it just never breaks . . . ;)

It‘s really something that the poor little fellow survived all that. Your picture reminded me of another awesome picture – the beat up OG iPhone from Evans Hankey in the „Designed by Apple …“ coffee table book.

You probably would have smashed by now if it was sapphire then. A colleague of mine slipped with a wrench undoing a nut and smashed the sapphire display on his watch. Easily done but sapphire isn’t as tough for impacts from what I have seen even if resists scratches better.

*whew* and here I thought I had cheaped-out by going for the less expensive option.

I can easily see what's displayed (even in full Sun), so I'll be keeping her for a while, then :)

Glass protector would definitely get torn-off.

I thought about something like the Spigen Rugged Armor (or it's ilk) but the watch is already bulky-enough.

It's just a watch, right <smile>
The LK screen protectors stay on really well and they give you 6 of them so you can replace them once they get too scratched. Might be something worth looking into for your next watch. It just hurts to see one in that condition lol.

Wow! Apple should hire you to load test their upcoming “rugged” watch 🤯

I’m sad to say I bought and used up these 6 (I think 8 actually) in a matter of 4 months or so. At least 2 were wasted due to me being really bad at putting them on. But even when they’re on, it seemed they deteriorate easily at the edges. I had read good reviews of them before… maybe I should try again but it was not a great experience for me. 😕

I’m still on my first one and it’s flawless after almost 2 months.
