I don't mean to resurrect a month+ old thread, but I figured I would just ask: is Geekbench free? Which version do I install? The simple .app, or the 64-bit version?

I noticed a "buy now" option on the site, I feel like once I install it, it's just going to be a trial or something.

Thanks.

The 64-bit version cost money. Just run the 32-bit app, it should be fine.

Thank you : )

edit: So I installed it, and a separate windows wants me to purchase the 64-bit version every time I open the application. I ignored the rosetta and 64-bit when opening the .dmg file, and just dragged "Geekbench.app" (that's the 32-bit, yes?) to my Applications folder. Is there any way to remove this message? Not a big deal, just curious.

You did everything right. Nope, no hack-free way to remove the message other than buying the 64-bit version. It's one of the things they do to get you to buy it.

That score seems to reflect the dual core vs quad core difference.

seems about right...

Are people loving the 2011 MBP's!!!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yeah a great upgrade. Bottom of the current range beats top of the last year's range of MBP. Now if only they would sort out the SATA III connection problems so I can run two 6G SSDs...

Thanks for the information on Geekbench everyone, I got it running properly.

After running the correct .app, I scored a 3999 (doh!) with some other stuff still running and the power cord plugged in. 13'' MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 320M, 4 GB, 5400 RPM.

I think I can break 4k if I figure out how to turn iStatMenus off.

2011 15" MBP - Baseline one.
-Feels good knowing my score is a little bit higher then what Geekbench shows lol.
