I can't seem to get my SHSH of my iPhone 4...

07/15/2010 18:25:26.552 Asking CYDIA for SHSH blobs for iPhone4 4.0 (8A293)... 07/15/2010 18:25:26.552 HTTP STATUS:504 07/15/2010 18:25:26.552 Timeout - Is your firewall blocking me? 07/15/2010 18:25:26.553 Your SHSH for iPhone4 4.0 (8A293) was NOT saved.

Not sure how to fix this. I have the ECID. Is there a different program I can run to get the SHSH?

They can also be saved to your computer.

Im just wondering if thats the process - TinyUmbrella is asking the Apple server for the blobs and then you save them where ever you want. Am I correct in my ever-ignorant assumptions.

The 504 error is a timeout error, meaning you can't connect to the server. Make sure that your firewall isn't blocking Umbrella. If you are behind a hardware firewall, you may have to contact the system administrator.

I'm on some crappy modem/router in the UK right now. What ports does Umbrella need?

Actually, no. By default TinyUmbrella asks for the SHSH from Cydia. If Cydia doesn't already have it, it passes the request on to Apple from its IP and caches the result before passing it back to you.

By the way, it appears that Cydia has already cached 4.0 SHSH's for people already on file. There's a bug with the display at the top of Cydia which will be fixed as early as today. If you've got it from TinyUmbrella using the Cydia server (or you had your SHSH on file for previous version) your SHSH is already on file.

just out of curiosity - when did you start trying to back up the blobs?

About half an hour ago.

I got the router sorted out, and now get this message:

07/15/2010 18:54:40.600 Processing SHSH Request... 07/15/2010 18:54:40.600 Asking CYDIA for SHSH blobs for iPhone4 4.0 (8A293)... 07/15/2010 18:54:40.600 HTTP STATUS:500 07/15/2010 18:54:40.600 Server-side error. Cydia is likely overloaded...

Well, that's a bit more specific. lol.

Poor saurik is out buying more fans for his server.

Anyone have an idea when Apple will stop signing 4.0 with the 4.0.1 beta out. they usually stop once it's released to the community, right?

Wait a few minutes and try again. It should work now. I was about to tell you that it's standard http (port 80), but it sounds like you got it sorted.

Ok. There's the answer I was looking for. Thanks for that.

Hey, I'm REEEEALLY new to this. I couldn't get it to go through on CYDIA, so I changed it to Apple and did it. Been trying to do it through Cydia a couple of more times unsuccessfully. It says backed up when I click "Display SHSH" (due to the fact that I did it through apple). Am I good to go?

How come this: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com didn’t get added to my hosts file when I ran Umbrella?

Because if it did that it would not be able to contact the Apple server if you chose it instead of Cydia in the Advanced menu. In fact, if you have that line in there, it will comment it out so it can access Apple if you need it.

This is just one reason you need to write something up, if you already haven’t. If you have, provide a link and I’ll add it to my subscriptions.

Any idea why the stickies we request of your stuff never get stickied? I find it quite irritating.

BTW, what’s taking you so long to get the 4?

what’s taking you so long to get the 4?

I purchased my 3GS in August of last year. I'm not eligible for a full subsidy until Jan 15 (missed it by two weeks). I really can't justify spending an extra $200 to get it now, especially since playing with it the other day in the AT&T store. It's a beauty, alright, but really not that different in usage from my 3GS.

I'm actually debating whether to wait for next summer before upgrading.

I’d wait for the 5 or whatever it’s called, if I were you.
