Yeah if the iPad stops working.

I dropped my iPad 3 within a week at 5 feet and it cracked. It still was functional but I had ac+ and apple replaced it for the deductible.
If op had ac+ he should be treated the same. Plus he said the corner he dropped it on is not responsive, I would think that should be a "iPad that's (sorta) stop working.

I don't need your analogy, since I stated quite clearly that I was not advising the OP to intentionally destroy his iPad to initiate coverage.

My only point was that I find it silly that one cannot use one of their two covered accidental damage incidents to swap out a cosmetically damaged iPad if they wanted.

If my AppleCare Plus is about to expire let me be the first to say that I will be getting a nice new iPad for $49

No the iPad has not been affected at all by the dent. There was Wifi problems before it.

Your dad only gave you life, you SHOULD complain that he made a mistake and gave your electronic a COSMETIC alteration that doesn't affect it's USABILITY or PERFORMANCE one bit. How DARE he?!?!

I suppose he could have not loved your mom and not loved the thought of having you so much and just not brought you into the world so that you COULD buy and iPad and have it dropped.

Yeah.....

Some years ago I bought a new car. I had it a few months and my dad backed into it. No big deal, the car's gone now. Unfortunately so is dad.

Gah, I can sympathise... Mine fell out of my bag whilst I was running home :(.

Also managed to ding my laptop, thankfully it was in a Speck case:

I had to pay £250 at the Apple Store and they replaced it there on the spot, and I was damn pleased too! Beats paying for another iPad 4G 64GB!

Alex

Did the iPad still turn on when you dropped it?

That's a tough one, sorry about your Dad.

To the OP - Things are just things. Believe me, I am a nut case when it comes to my electronics but things happen and it's so not worth it to worry about a squished corner. If it's working okay, then chaulk it up to living life and trade it in for the next new iPad if it still bugs you next year. I had the original iPad and it was really like new until my granddaughter dropped it and split the plastic on the antenna just a few months ago. I put some crazy glue on it to keep it from splitting further and still got full price $270 for the Best Buy trade in.

I never even let my girlfriend hold my valuables. You either care or you don't care. My friend slides his iphone along the floor to another person just so they can use it... I cradle my iphone 3gs for 2.5 years now without a mark on it. I don't even sit it on the desk without a cloth under it.

my..my precious!

Nice try, but they give you the same model.

Go get 'em tiger!!!

Thank you, I'm well aware how the process works.

I find it hilarious that everyone hates my comments yet 90% of the people posting here have smashed up their apple devices. Mine has not even got a mark on it in 2.5 years. Go ahead and hate on my comments but at least my device is not smashed after a few months. GO figure

Nobody hates you... perhaps its just they find the comments so... anal retentive. Or maybe amazed that your GF isn't allowed to touch your stuff... I mean junk, er, I mean... oh never mind.

Don't intentionally break it, just be a little mo recareless...whenever you are passing it to someone else, throw it...use it in your car with nothing to hold it while you are driving through twisties...eventually you are bound to have an "accident" that renders it unusable....then AppleCare kicks in...ya feel me?:)

my..my precious!

haha it was when i first got it but now i don't care much for it. I still treat everything nicely though because if you look after your stuff it lasts forever. I just sold a super nintendo mint condition box was immaculate for big moneys. It pays off.

the first half of your reply made sense the rest was just plain stupid talk. She has her own phone she doesn't need to use mine. I would let her if it wasn't the case.

You know those Netbook pouches/sleeves with a zipper? Well I told my dad to hold it while I fixed something on my shoe and he let it drop on the top left corner and now it's smooshed a bit. My touch screen still works fine and everything looks new except for that... Corner.

So much for trying to keep my iPad safe. I never drop my electronics but my own parent can't even hold it safety for five seconds...

Just goes to show that warranty's are only needed if you let someone else touch your iPad... same thing happened to me with my fiancé... she started crying as soon as it happened and looked at me like I was going to hit her.

In hindsight, I should have...

I was within the 30 days to buy apple care+ though, so I did and filed a claim, no issues.

i completely agree! just couldnt pass up the chance for a lotr joke ;)
im pretty cautious with mine as well. they arent cheap!

thats why i always use incase cases :) dropped them many of times and not once has it broke. They arent big like otter boxes. actually quite fitted.

my 3gs many years ago, fail out of my car at the ATM, the lady behind me ran it over (despite me running in front of the car and waiving/ screaming stop)

the device was face down. Screen cracked, but nothing internally was damaged thanks to the incase :)

In hindsight you should have hit your fiance for breaking your iPad? You're joking right?

Baby steps with the iPod
Baby steps with the iPhone
Baby steps with the iPad

:p

One of my fav movies ever!

Hmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmm this corn on the cob is so good. Hmmmmm hmmmm hmmm. Lol I feel like watching that movie now :D

To the op: sorry to hear your dad dropped your iPad. I don't let my parents touch my iPad, they understand.

At least the screen didn't shatter. Buy a nice case for it and maybe you'll forget about the crushed corner over time

90% have smooshed their iOS devices? I have the iPhone for the last 2 years, iPod Touch since it first came out, iPad since it first came out, iPod Nano starting 1st generation (no longer used, different story) yet none of these have had a single scratch or fall. Best part - no case or screen protector whatsoever.
Get your facts right.
