I've recently sold my old Macbook to my friend. I signed out of my apple ID but didn't factory reset because they wanted to use some of the things that I had downloaded onto it. They are trying to update the Mac on the app store but it is coming up with my email address for the sign in. They've tried signing in with various other accounts and also tried creating a new ID but nothing works as it says that I am still signed in. I've signed in on my new computer and removed that device from my list of devices. Is there any way around this?

Whatever they are trying to update is linked to your Apple ID. They need to delete the app and repurchase it with a different Apple ID.
