hahahaha your so stupid. obviously i had that sim shut off so he couldnt use my phone. i never got a new one sent to me tho. im on a family plan so i had the account holder take care of that. and i prob dont make more than 10 actual phone calls a month on it anyways. i used it mostly for texting and surfing the web. when i get my phone back ill be compinsated from the days i missed from work cuz of this situation and the amount that ive been paying paying att for a phone that i dont have.
and i wouldnt mind a gold iphone btw that would be pretty sweet!

you never actually said you had the sim cancelled did you? are you sure you will get the money back from the network?

but it's good to know you just insult the people trying to help the people less smart than us, next time show a little gratitude and be more full in the back story.

OK, you will be doing and Upgrade Swap with your mom's line. Do you plan to go to the AT&T Corporate Retail store to complete the swap or do you want to try to do it by calling AT&T. Since you don't have a current SIM, I would suggest you go to the AT&T store with your mother and her phone and they can complete the Upgrade Swap and also provide any required SIMs.

The basic Upgrade Swap steps are just like last year and are covered in the iPhone Upgrade Guide: http://guides.macrumors.com/iPhone_Upgrade_Guide under Upgrade Swap.

In your case depending on the skill of the Customer Care rep on the phone, you might need two SIMs. Does your mom have an iPhone 4 today? If not then she will not be able to reuse the new Micro-SIM that is shipped with the new iPhone 4S.

Did you pre-order from Apple.com or AT&T? The activation steps will be slightly different.

Dave

i was planning on calling att the day my iphone arrives and having them activate and swap service on the sim that comes with the device. but i see you say differently. she has a motorola razr with a normal sized sim card i believe. im not positive what those have. and yes i pre ordered it through apple. i just entered her information when i purchased the phone like the apple representative said i should.

well he was being a douche and calling me a liar. and idk what stupid person in their right mind wouldnt have a stolen sim card deactivated. he had just assumed i wasnt smart enough to do that. its common sense!

This thread makes me head hurt, I feel like I've lost a few brain cells.

Your phone gets put into evidence for 5 months with your sim, which is fine, but you just walked around with no phone since then?

Like you didn't think of getting a free sim from AT$T and some $20 phone to hold you off?

You're making us iPhone owners look bad lol

when you phone/sim is stolen you call the network asap and get them to block that sim, and they send you a new sim (with your old number and account) for free which you put in any other phone (like a £10 nokia) and carry on using your mins/texts that you are paying for.

OP if you have been paying for your contract for the past 5 months without requesting a new sim and cancelling the old sim then - wow, you really must have money to burn,
what would have happened if the person who stole it made thousands of pounds/dollars of international calls? you are liable up until you tell the network to cancel the stolen sim.

because i didnt have a phone to put it in you retard. and i didnt want another phone unless it was an iphone 4. you should read the previous posts before you make yourself sound stupid.

well that just sums it up, don't be so pompous your paying for a service you refuse to use cause you don't want to use anything other than an iPhone???
well sorry your royal highness, would you like the iphone gold plated and diamond encrusted, delivered by a thousand white doves.....

I lost/ had a phone stolen once s long time ago and as soon as I found out I was on the phone with sprint waiting two hours to report it.

Obviously the op is socially inept and inexperienced. The worst part is he did not share it enough with friends or relatives or have anyone knowledgable to just instruct him how he could of at least been using a cheap phone.

If he would have called the provider or stopped in a local store they would have set him straight. Also op you need to go to the police station and not call them on the phone. You seem to be afraid of any face to face interaction you have to push yourself past that and take more control of your life.

I have the feeling that the reason you can't get the phone back is because it does not legally belong to you. Sure it may be your phone and all but with the family plan, it is technically under the account holders name.

Have the account holder DM me and I personally will work with the department to get that back for you. There is NO WAY this is as complicated as your making it appear.

no thats not the case at all. im an authorized user of the account anyways. besides the account holder has been more in contact with them that i have in this whole situation.
who are you anyways? i wouldnt feel comfortable having some random dude i met on the internet calling up my local police station to handle my case for me. thats just wierd.

why is it so hard to understand that i only wanted an iphone. and week by week i would be told that i would be getting my phone back soon. it just happened to turn into 5 months. i wasnt gonna waste my money on a cheap phone if i didnt know when i was gonna get my iphone back.
and ive been to the police station/detectives office/court house many times and spent countless hours in waiting rooms. and IM TURNED DOWN EVERY TIME. there is nothing i can physically do at the time but wait and just hope they get around to it wether theyre bullsh*tting me or not.
why do people not read the previous posts???

i have, but im a broke 20 year old. i cant afford a lawyer. it seems that everything i say or ask them they make up some justifiable way to respond and i cant tell if its BS or if theyre telling the truth. every time a call its a new excuse. they just couldnt give a damn. im clearly not a priority.

You can't be too broke if you've got the money to upgrade your perfectly good iPhone 4 to an iPhone 4S...
