I know we won't know until they officially announce, but just wanted to see if anybody had any theories.
Assuming it will be similar to the iPhone 6, I would like the SIM-free iPhone 6S rather than a potential unlocked T-Mobile version due to the additional LTE bands of the former for travel in Asia and better international AppleCare support.
The problem is, last time, the unlocked A1549 version was available at launch in September and the actual SIM-free A1586 version didn't come out until the following January, nearly 4 months later.
Anybody have any guesses? I know the SIM-free versions have been available sooner for other models. Maybe this is the year they truly just have one? Thoughts?
May I ask which Asian countries are you referring to when talking about lack of support for LTE bands? I'm so confused. I travel to China extensively and I know China Mobile has a different band (TD-LTE or whatever its called).
If I buy the "paid in full" T-Mobile phone now, will it work in China? or do I have to wait for the SIM-free version?
I was talking about the 6, not the 6s. Both the new 6s models have all the Asian LTE bands (unless they implement 30). So you should be good.
OK, so for 6, there was a difference in bands offered between the contract-free and SIM-free; but for 6s, that difference is taken away. So what is the point of waiting for a SIM-free now?

A1687/8 + LTE 30 would literally be the same as an A1633/4.I think people are waiting for the SIM-free version, that has the A1687/A1688 LTE bands, plus LTE 30 (and the LTE 38-41). Their logic is sound, if they want to pay full price and unlocked phone, they want one that's the truly global phone.
