You can get the t-mobile iPhone without entering your carrier info at launch. It will at the very least be GSM unlocked (will work on ATT/tmobile). It will work with an active verizon SIM. No one can tell you for sure anything else. If it will work on verizon with a new line, etc. This is how it was last year.

The only way you are getting a full price phone from another carrier will be if that is your current carrier. If you have verizon you will be able to buy a full priced verizon iPhone, but if you do not have verizon you cannot buy their phone full price b.c you cannot get passed the carrier info screen. THIS PHONE WILL BE UNLOCKED

people are confusing SIM free and unlocked all over the place.

Unlocked means you can use it on a different carrier, SIM free contains all of the bands and any carrier will ACTIVATE it. SIM free seems like it will not be available at launch, unless you do the apple upgrade plan. Those sound like SIM free phones, but again no one is certain.

There is a section on the Verizon website where you can order device only without service and not be and existing customer. I have ordered 2 iPhones using that page. I'll post it after I complete my preorder.

My spidey sense tells me we're gonna get Rickrolled.

I'm purchasing it to use it on some networks abroad, looking for the 1633 model.

So as far as I get it, both T-Mobile and AT&T are the same model?

Which one do you recommend if I'm thinking about unlocking from day 1?.

Thanks

Both should be unlocked from day 1 if you pay full price, but T-Mobile is probably safer

So there should not be any difference right?

In mo home country, my carrier uses the exact same AT&T version. Purchasing T-Mo should be good right?

Well if you don't want to make the drive, I guess you'd have to wait for the SIM-free version, and there's no guarantee that would be the A1633/4 variant

I cannot wait for the day when the carriers are completely divorced from the product. I want to buy an iPhone like any other piece of hardware.

It's almost enough to make me ditch the iPhone and wait for the new Google Nexus 5 (2015). The phones should be quality and cost less than 2/3 of an iPhone. However, I don't really want to lose the continuity among my iDevices, and the Nexus always manages to disappoint is some important area. Still . . . with this control that carriers have over Apple preorders, I'm tired of this as one who uses a Verizon MVNO.

Is the T-Mobile and Verizon model the same model? It look like it from the LTE page.

iPhone 6s
Model A1638 (GSM)
Model A1638 (CDMA)

iPhone 6s Plus
Model A1687 (GSM)
Model A1687 (CDMA)

  • Sprint
  • T-Mobile
  • Verizon

That is what it looks like this year. Also, I could not find the verizon phone without contract on the verizon website. The only question is will verizon activate a new account with the t-mobile phone.

This year the ATT is the only phone that is different b.c it supports LTE band 30.

I'm so confused after reading this thread and have read what seems to be conflicting information. I will be traveling to the UK next month for a few months. I pre-ordered the T-Mobile iPhone through the Apple website at full price. I do not have a T-Mobile plan currently. Will I be able to use this phone easily in the UK or do I need to return this phone?

Buying a full prince tmobile or att is the same thing right? in that we can use it with any carrier

How can I tell which model I have in my cart on the Apple website? When I have a tmobile in my cart, it shows MKR32LL/A.

All I want is one that will work with Straight Talk using the ATT network.
