It is unfortunate they drop accessories while maintaining price, but that's always been Apples way. The first two generations of iPod came with a dock (now, $40). My PowerBook G3 came with all the adapters necessary to plug into a screen and to convert for accessories designed for PC (now you must buy each adapter separately).

I think the reality is that most people in the U.S. never eject their SIM card unless they travel internationally. I would venture to guess most don't even know there is a SIM card inside. The one thing that you should keep in mind is that apple has generally Increased the quality and cost of materials in successive generations. So the price may be the same, but the materials are superior. I'd rather have an aluminum body phone without a sim tool than a plastic 3GS with a sim tool. I'd also prefer my unibody MacBook with the retina screen over the G3 with plastic joints and accessory connectors I used maybe once.

20¢ x 40,000,000 phones is $8,000,000 of savings on something most people wouldn't use.

Why waste resources making something just to have it thrown away w/o being used?

And seriously you are complaining about a charger being made sleeker with less moving parts? That's an upgrade my friend. I had the original iPod shuffle, it's charger was fragile!

Why you no complain about getting 64GB for the price of 32GB last year. Or an A8 chip being the same cost of an A7, or a 4.7" screen being the same cost as a 4.0" one. Or the longer battery life, better slo mo camera, thinner profile (zonks Apple is robbing us of Aluminum). And where are your complaints about the more expensive ear phones and superior lightning cable.

What's next, bitching about the lack of a photo on the embossed box?

The issue is not how to find one paperclip, I have 5 SIM eject tools, the issue is that Apple every time offer you less for the same money.

How much can cost the sim tool if you buy millions, I am sure that for Apple is less than 20 cents for every tool or maybe less and they decided that they will save that money, does it changes their finances doing this?

Reading the posts here it looks like for some countries Apple decides to include them or not. Why not include them for everyone. I would like more to have that SIM tool than the Apple logo stickers.
Do you know how many pets die from choking on sim tool each year?

Neither do I.

I seriously doubt more than 10% of American iPhone customers EVER open their SIM tray.

They might as well include an Android phone charger with the iPhone instead. I bet more people would use it.

Do you know that the SIM eject tool was build from Liquidmetal.

Why Apple decided to use an exotic material and then they decided to not include that tool?

If Apple sells the iphone in $5 dollars more and include a cloth, a sim eject tool, and the ipad charger people would be more happy. Do you think someone will be angry for paying $5 dollars more for an iphone? Nobody will care paying $5 dollars more, but Apple always wants to get more money from every phone they sell.

If they can't include a sim eject tool in a unkocked iphone they will never offer people 2GB of RAM because even some cents are important for them

And the iphone charger what do you think.

In the future Apple is going to sell the iphone in the stores without a box because they have to pay some cents per box.

The main reason for this thread is not the SIM eject tool, the main reason is that Apple always offer you less than before.

How much could it cost Apple offering the same charger as the ipad on the iphone 6? But they decided that they have to save some money there. I think that is wrong.

They used to charge for iLife. That is free now.

They used to charge for upgrading OSX. That will be free.

Your wasting space and time here.

Move. Along.

The fact that only a carboard outline of the phone is on the box, the boxes just say iphone not iphone 6 or 6+, crooked text on several 6 models shows you that Apple is slipping.
The consistent watering down of both the appearance and contents of the package is truly a joke. However, not nearly as funny as apple fanatics who make excuses for the company's every misstep and every greedy act.

More like 1c each. I just bought some from ebay, 30 for £1 ($1.60).

Apple would be a paying a lot less than I do on eBay...

Strange I type this in other thread I created and it appears here.

The admins as always deleted threads and move posts like they want. They don't like people typing the true about Apple.

they are not spending 8 million dollars on paperclips.

here on amazon there are 1000 paperclips for $2.78, that is .002 cents per paperclip.

Now assuming apple has to pay that much for a paperclip, for 40 million iPhones they are spending $80,000, a bit different than your number.

I wasn't trying to find the financial reason or anything, i was just curious to whether mine was just forgotten or if they just stopped including them. My phone did come with a new sim but i said to keep my old one.

I'm happy my iPhone 6 came with a Sim removal tool (UK) because maybe that goes just a tiny way to countering the fact that the US gets all the features that we don't - iTunes Radio still isn't here, I doubt we'll get Apple Pay until sometime in 2030 too given the way Apple views the world outside the US... :p

All of my iPhones come with them, both of my 6's did. Might be a UK/Europe thing?

Can confirm 5% of their costs goes towards the SIM opening tool.

For a company that has in the bank 100 billion or more in cash, that is really amazing.

Also they can't include a better charger 12w and a cloth to clean the screen?

I read that Apple is planing to sell iphones directly in the stores without boxes because they cost too much for them, about 10 cents each.:confused::confused:

adds up after awhile i guess. I wonder how they plan to ship them without boxes.

In bubble plastic. It was a joke about the boxes

I hope that someday Apple understands that they will not save money by not offering the same things as before.

The charger is the same cost to them, the smaller one is a bwriter design.

Who the f needs another cloth to wipe anything, that's just a waste of resources (production and shipping).

Honestly I'd like to see Apple can the headphones, usb cable and charger. This way they could transport twice as many in a given space, and we'd stop wasting resources on making that crap (I've got a stack of ear pods, and 2 charging kits just taking up space in my junk drawer, and I bet a whole lot of people are in the same boat). If we apply keystone profit margins to the MSRP of that crap Apple could save $16 per iphone sold, or $160,000,000 this last weekend.

I have had every single iPhone since 2007 and u have never seen a tool in my box. Maybe the AT&T reps took it own when they activated it since that's where I would get them.

I have 13 SIM removal tools from various iPhones over the years. They're still included in the UK, but I don't really get the big deal about them.

I usually use a paper clip anyway as it's more convenient.

I'm often abroad in Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic and since roaming is still so expensive and I wanna use data I tend to buy pre-paid SIM cards and have to get my SIM card tray open somehow.

Whilst the SIM removal tool is still in the packages over here, but since I usually need it when I'm already abroad and I don't carry that with me that's not much use. But thankfully there are other things one can use - paper clips, go into a Carrier store and ask them to be so nice and give you one of those little buggers, etc.

On a side-note: I just looked through my apartment for 10 minutes - seems like I do not posess any paper clips!

Everyone just needs to settle down for a couple of months. The AppleWatch has a sim eject app. You just select the app and push the crown and the sim tray pops open. No need for tools, paper clips, thumb tacks, coat hangars, hypodermic needles.
