Is anyone going to ask the OP if he even synced his contacts?

I already stated before my contacts are in Address Book on my MBP. I know how to restore data and all that stuff, I was just asking about how my number and activation would be carried over from the SIM to a Micro SIM. I think I got my answer now. Enough arguments.

Not to hijack the thread but I have a few question of my own. First I'll explain the situation.

I have a 3G and I'd like to upgrade to the new iPhone. I would like to use the upgrade from another line because mine isn't eligible until August. The other line is a BB, my dad's line. My dad would then like to use my old 3G.

So what is going to happen as far as SIMs go when this happens? When we use the upgrade will the SIM that comes with the iPhone HAVE to be activated with my dad's number and then switched over to my number somehow, or can they simply activate it with my number.

I foresee an issue where the SIM that comes with the new iPhone (a micro sim), is pre-activated with my dads number and then he's stuck with a micro sim he can't use in my 3G and I'm stuck with a mini sim I can't use in the new iPhone. Also, what happens to your old sim when you get an iPhone? Is it completely deactivated? Can it be reactivated with all the data still on it?

A) Last I checked the SIMs weren't pre-activated.
B) If I'm wrong, go to AT&T store and they will sort it all out and give you the SIMs you need.

just tell them to use your dads upgrade on your line and give your old one to your dad.

At the ATT store, buy the iPhone under your pops line. Then tell them to activate that iPhone with your number. Take the SIM out of your dads BB, then put it in the 3GS. Should work. Good luck to ya.

People need to read the original post before they respond. The number of people posting things that had nothing to do with what the OP was asking is mind-boggling.

Much thanks for the help.

Will there be any cost attached to these SIM activations?

My questions were similar. Or would you rather I start ANOTHER thread and clog up the forum even more?

The problem for me at least was he wrote this:

how will I get my info and stuff off of my current SIM card and put it onto the Micro SIM

So, I figured he thought his contacts were on the SIM. It is a common mistake for people unfamiliar with the iPhone.
