I think my favorite would be a tie between my first one (4) and iPhone X. I’ve had the black version of all of them except the 5 I had in “white” and the 6 plus was “silver”

I stopped upgrading every year, no reason to do so ever again. I might upgrade next year, maybe.

Just like with my Androids, last Samsung I had was the Note 10+/S10+. Bought the S24 Ultra in October and put the Note 10+/S10+ in the drawer.

iPhone 5 was my first ever iPhone it was pandemonium and impossible to get, UPS knocks on my door got it with zero issues on Sprint. The size was Amazing and it was BLACK.

iPhone 5 Plus, which was somehow waaay better than the regular 5. And 64GB which was the Top maximum version.

and iPhone 6 Plus due to a Sprint pre-order problem where I fully paid upfront and was “Guranteed” a phone they screwed up and Sold it to someone else. Got a refund and a FREE phone iPhone 6 Plus.

3GS, 5🅂, 7, X🅂.
Every phone I bought is good enough and no regret. All of them works prefectly through the lifespan.

I’ve mostly been an odd year guy:
3Gs
4s
5s
6s Plus
8 Plus
12 Pro Max
13 Pro Max
16 Pro?

Only upgraded to the 13 Pro Max due to Apple offering $790 trade-in credit for the 12 Pro Max, but happy I did for its 1000 nits typical brightness and 120 hrtz display. Still can’t decide if I’m going to upgrade to the 16 Pro as I’d like a smaller device that weighs less, but it’s such a nothing upgrade since I don’t give a **** about AI or the camera button.

Decisions decisions 🤔

- iPhone 5 (great phone)
- iPhone 5C (big mistake. Should have gotten the 5S or 6).
- iPhone XR (favorite of all time).
- iPhone SE 2022 (another mistake).
- iPhone 14 Plus (another great phone, albeit maybe too big for me).

Mac user since 2003 here:

iPhone 5
iPhone X (my current phone)

Will pre-order a iPhone 16 tomorrow.

iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I think I had:

3GS
5S
SE
7
11
14 Pro

I think my fav iPhone was the 5S. It was just the perfect device at that time. I regretted the 7 I think, it just degraded rather quickly in terms of performance and battery.

I've got a slow morning here, so I'll chime in...

2 iphones, 5s and 8+, the former the pinnacle of iphone design, IMHO, not a fan of my slippery slim-design 8.

Looking to upgrade to SE3 when iOS 18 arrives and the 8+ is no longer supported, I have zero interest in a phone without a home button so there's nothing else Apple could convince me to purchase.

Phone calls, occasional texts and facetime with my kiddo, other than that, 1 app, Merlin so I can identify a bird song. I have a life and don't live on my phone, so the rest is just wasted tech for this user.

Next question. :)

3GS
Bought my first iPhone in 2009. Black and 16 GB. A buddy convinced me I needed an iPhone after I argued with him for years that a flip phone was all I needed.

4S
Upgraded in 2011. Went white and 32 GB. Still have really fond memories of this phone.

6
Upgraded again in 2014. Went back to black and 64 GB. Skipped the 5S because all the rumors suggested the 6 would the one to get. This is the last iPhone I pre-ordered and got at launch (well, until tomorrow).

7 Plus
Like most people, I held out for the X in 2017. But it just wasn't what I wanted for the cost. I was going to go with the 8, but there wasn't a 128 GB option, which was the sweet spot for me. I always figured the Plus models were too big, but I started playing with the 7 Plus at the Apple Store and really liked it. So I snagged the 7 Plus, in jet black (bring this back Apple!) at 128 GB, on discount. Still my favorite iPhone, and I still have it although I don't use it anymore. I actually replaced the battery a couple of months before the garbage can incident (see below).

SE 2
I don't believe in cases. For the most part, that's worked out fine for me. But in early October 2021, I was talking on my 7+ outside and needed to look at something so I set it on top of my garbage can (big mistake). The wind blew it onto the driveway. The 7+ survived but it got some nasty scratches and dings on it. Since it was 4 years old (and the model was 5 years old) I decided to get a new phone. Went SE 2 for the cheaper price, smaller size and Touch ID. Stuck with black and 128 GB. Was only planning on keeping it for a year, but it's lasted 3. Still have some mixed feelings about trading it in for the 16. But it's time.

16
Did the pre pre-order thing last night. Thought about going blue (or whatever Apple is calling it) but decided to stick with black at 128 GB - standard version, I don't need a Pro and coming from an SE I'm sure the size will be fine. It will be my first experience with Face ID. I really wish Apple would bring back Touch ID on its phones, but I fear that ship has sailed. My favorite number is 16, so I always kind of figured I'd get an iPhone 16. Is that weird? Yeah, probably, but I'm excited to finally get a new phone at launch.

The regret buys were the iPhones that didn't have CDMA so you couldn't use Verizon and Sprint at the time. The CDMA+GSM models had a little higher resell value.

The 7 plus is probably the one I miss the most. Slim and didn't bulge out of your pockets, force touch and the static home button. The headphone jack was missed. There were tons of great accessories and things on Go Fund Me / Indiegogo as well.

Ive had every gen since the 3GS way back in the day. I think the iPhone X was my favorite only because that was the first truly new unique iphone since the first iphone, and since then they have been more stagnant

4, 5, 6, 6S Plus, 11PM (still my favorite phone ever), 13PM, 14PM, 15PM

Being on the iPhone trade in program I just get one every year.

Skipped 11/12 because it was the same design over and over with very few changes. The only phone I still have and kept, my XS Max. Pristine condition, love that phone.

I have had 4 iphones. I have used Android more over the years but have been sticking with iphone lately.

I didn't get into iPhones until later on (I was an Android guy but my kids wanted iPhones and I got my daughters an 8 and an 8 plus and so I picked up the iPhone X so I could try them myself and it went from there).

X
Xs max
12 mini
12 pro
13 pro maz
14 pro max
15 pro max

The 12 pro was my least favorite, I prefer big phones but the 12 pro just felt heavier than it's size, at least with the pro max phones, they have a big size to go along with the weight.
The 12 mini I only used for a couple months and only got it because T-Mobile had a trade in promotion and I had an iPhone 8 laying around that my daughter had used but she had moved on to my X, so I only had to pay the sales tax on the 12 mini. While I prefer a really big phone, the 12 mini I actually really liked the form factor but didn't like dealing with the battery life.

I don’t even know which ones I’ve owned. Favorites are

- 4 - the first one on Verizon. I can’t remember whether I had a blackberry storm or palm pilot before it but either were very outdated compared to the iPhone. It was eye opening
- Whichever one introduced 4g - seems to me like this was the peak of coverage and speed. These days I either have blazing fast speeds or no service at all, especially inside buildings.

I think the faster way to reply is to say which ones I have not owned. I have had the plus sized phones since the iPhone 6 Plus. I skipped the 4 and the X but have had every other release. I don't plan to get the 16 so that will be the 3rd skip since the beginning. I dont think today that I need a camera button, my preference really is a compact camera. I use my phone camera of course, all the time, just dont ever recall a time I wish I had a dedicated button. There are other updates as well but right now I am not in the mood to buy anything. If the updated iPad mini shows up next month, that will be my next purchase. I like my 6th gen except for the jelly scroll. Still see it.

3GS (died in the washing machine)
4S
XR (infamous microphone issues)

Google Pixel Gap (got tired of the problems, Jobs was right, the Iphone just works)

14 Plus (kinda regretted, just wanted the yellow since this was the beginning of the boring color phase)
