I thought I start a little time waster thread, while people are waiting for the iPhone 16 launch.

Since the iPhone first launched I have owned 6 iPhones. My favourite iPhone was the X, it was the most epic update in Apples history. As it ousted the home button for a full screen phone, which many of us were accustomed to.

My regret buy was my current phone the iPhone 12 Pro Max, only because there was not much changes visually, and I could have hanged onto my X much longer.
I have had every iPhone from the original (which I still have, boxed and mint), all the way through to the current iPhone 16 Pro Max. By far the nicest physical device Apple ever built was the iPhone 4. Revolutionary build quality, and they haven't matched it yet. Still, of course, prefer a larger, more full-featured phone, but my iPhone 4 still sits on a B&W Zepellin speaker, and looks as good today as it did when new.

You know I wish I got the x, but opted to buy the 8 plus (I still have the 8 plus after it went to threee family members and back to me again). That was a pretty unique phone and wish Apple continued with the screen size and not a 2 year time frame. I went from 8 plus to xs max.

4S, 6S, XR, 13PM and now, 16.

My favorite? Has to be the 16. The size is just right for me and it keeps up with whatever I want to do, just as my XR did (albeit with updated internals)

Since 2010
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4s (found in the street but worked perfect)
- iPhone 5s (probably my favorite iPhone)
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 13 (my least favorite iPhone)

5s, 6s, 11, and 13 Pro, which is my current phone. The 5s and 13 Pro are my favourites but I really liked the 6s in Rose Gold as well...

Started with the 4S (Space Gray), went to a 5S(Space Gray), then a 6S Plus(product Red), to a X(black maybe?), downgraded to a 6S (don't ask) and now since the day it came out, I still use an iPhone 11(product red). By a large margin, the iPhone 11 is the best phone I've ever owned.

The 4S was the one that really introduced me personally to iOS and Siri, the 5S was amazing because if Touch ID and the idea of a 64-bit ARM CPU, the Plus was cool because of it's screen, X was great because of how new it felt, but man the 11 is just a solid damn phone. The jump from my 11 to a 17 Pro Max later this year is probably going to feel pretty nuts, hopefully it last even longer than my 11 has!

I used to jail break my iPhone 1st gen and up up until AT&T lose exclusive access. I had T-Mobile data on it for $5 a month all through out my first job and back when I got to grad school for my masters. I did it to my friends iPhone. It was the wild Wild West. Had to pay upfront for the iPhone of course.

Skipped 14's on launch day. Worst iPhone was the 12's with significantly decreased physical battery. My favorite one's are the 13 Pro/PM and 15 Pro/PM.

I've had 8 iPhones starting with the 3G. However, I feel like I'm cheating a little because in between my iPhone upgrades I'm also maintaining an Android phone because of data security concerns. If my iPhone/Apple ID is compromised I have an independent system ready to go. However, I think in our lifetimes we will face a worldwide data security crisis. My backup Android phone may not matter if my bank account becomes meaningless.

Zero regrets on any of them. I was already deeply embedded in the Mac/iTunes/iPod ecosystem by the time I bought into iPhone 3G on launch day, and had a first gen iPod Touch beforehand. Music has always been my #1 priority with phones as it was with my iPods before it, so having a touchscreen ‘pocket mac’ with the iPod was an absolute no brainer.

Favourite? 3G was my first and you never forget your first. 4 for the retina display. 5 for the form factor. X for the ‘all screen, all gesture interface’. Also have fond memories of the 4 launch, queuing outside the Trafford Centre Apple Store whilst Apple comped those inline with free coffee & donuts.
