Perfect. I got all excited so I went and downloaded the ATV beta and now my actually Sling TV app doesn't work and since no apps use single sign on this feature is worthless right now. I guess that's why it's a dev beta, I can only be mad at my self for installing it I guess

Not surprised to see Dish is on that list. They have embraced new technology very quickly of late. Getting other pay tv providers to support this is going to take work. They are so stubborn that they undoubtedly will view this as a threat rather than a asset to their business model. If I were a CEO of any of the big pay tv providers. I would be all over Apple to be first to support this because it helps keep customers.... (since the apps need a valid subscription)

Single Sign On is not that big of a deal to me. Let's say I have around 10 TV apps that I use on my iPad, all of which reference the same cable subscription. Signing in to each one ONCE is not a major headache, especially since the list of apps does not change much over time.

The real inconvenience is when an individual app occasionally deletes/forgets the credentials and asks me to sign in again, as if I've never used the app before (CNBC does this around once/month). If Single Sign On prevents this from happening, then it's a Godsend. Otherwise I don't care.

That is exactly what single sign on is for.

I used to think Cue was the Making Deals guy. With this lineup, and the lack of Netflix on the TV app, I'm going to have to go with No.

I wonder how the single sign on will work in cases where someone has some channels with one provider, but would prefer to use one tv app that only works with another login.

To give an example, some of the tv apps will not work with Comcast, for some reason they don't support those apps despite having the network on my cable tier. (AMC for example.)

I have been getting around this by using another relatives log-in from Direct TV for that app. Can I set up the single sign in for comcast, but sign into the particular app with Direct TV? (Of course, Comcast would need to get onboard with single sign in first.)

i could just cheat and use the Direct tv login (once they support single sign-in), but the borrowed login won't work for HBO GO, so I would need to make sure that app used my Comcast login instead, which brings me around to the same multiple login issue.

Thanks for taking one for the team!!

Yes this is exactly what it should do

Why is everyone so worked up? it's still a beta feature. It's always possible it will launch with a few more networks once 10.1 is live.

This particular feature doesn't matter much to me, I'd much prefer everything be under my Apple ID account. I don't want to deal with cable companies or networks at all, I just want per-channel subscriptions at reasonable prices.

But this is becoming part of a pattern of Apple being unable to get the content providers in line. I think they need to bring in the equivalent of a Jimmy Iovine, someone who understands and who is respected within Hollywood and can make the deals happen.

It's almost like he can't make any deal without Steve Jobs.

Maybe he read "Trump: The art of the deal" thinking it's not written about an idiot.

I'm not seeing it. I have the latest beta installed.

EDIT: I got it now. I had to reboot a few times. It is odd no DIRECTV and others. Kind of odd to enable a feature to beta test, and you cannot test it till December lol.

What is also comical is they have sling on there. The only two apps I know that are tv everywhere with sling is espn and fx. Not sure if that was even needed for sling tv.
