This is not true. There's a big red "Turn Siri off" button at the bottom of the page. And you can go back to SAE (Apple Intelligence) Siri if you'd like.

in iOS 26 we have this ... and turning Siri off disables wireless CarPlay

My understanding is they have decentralized off/on in 27 beta.

I won’t be updating iOS until I get a new phone. Probably next year. Difficult to justify phone upgrades more than every 3 years with the last 6 generations at least.

This has always been bewildering to me. Turning Siri off is the first thing I do on every Apple device. I guess I just don't get it. Now if Siri were as helpful as Claude Opus? (someday) Maybe then I'll leave it on.

This doesn’t really matter for the vast majority of regular customers.
Apple likely won’t push iOS 27 to be the default update until about mid-December anyway, and by then, anyone who cares about the waitlist would have joined the waitlist already.
This very likely won’t matter until most regular consumers get updated from 26.7.1 or whatever to 27.2 or 27.3., and by then, the waitlist will very likely be gone.

You are correct sir. I just installed iOS 27 beta 7, and at Settings > Siri, at the very bottom, is a button labeled with red text saying "Turn Off Siri", but that's just for Siri. There's no longer a single option for turning off Apple Intelligence, which of course is the more overall, pervasive assistant. Instead, Apple has replaced it with a series of finer-grained options in the Settings app. In beta 7 (and one or two prior 27 betas?), weirdly (or stupidly) enough, several of them are at Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, where you'll see an entry labeled "Siri", and when you tap on that, the pane that's displayed is actually titled "Siri Restrictions", and this pane displays a section titled "Allowed Siri Version", under which are options labeled "Siri AI (Beta)", "Siri Classic", "Don't Allow Siri". Further down in the Siri Restrictions pane is an option labeled "Writing Assistance", whose choices are "Blocked" and "Allowed". There are other toggles and options related to other Apple Intelligence features here and there in the Settings app, but no longer a single toggle to turn them all off at once, so if someone doesn't want to see the Apple Assistant prompts across the board, they'll have to track down these options individually and set them to "Blocked" or whatever it's labeled as for each of these options.

In other words, while Apple has given users finer-grained options, it's also made the Siri and Apple Intelligence on/off settings much more confusing for the average user.

waitlist just like when 16 Max was the new guy on the block....very interesting how much has changed since then (and stayed the same), back then it wasn't ramageddon I don't think....anyways, excitement level to try new Siri is @ an all time low, personally, no goog bro! lol
