I love Apple but this test would be absolutely hilarious to see happen. I hope they release the video of the focus groups of people trying to use Siri in a hotel room to do anything.

Siri, order me the veggie burger through room service

OK, I've found Reggie's Plumbing in London, England. Would you like to begin navigation?

TBH, Alexa wins purely down to the better microphones which were designed to pick up sound from a large area. Siri barely understands me when the iPhone is on my bedside table. If Apple developed a stand-alone device, then it becomes more interesting.

Well, English is not my native language (Siri is STILL not available in my native language), but I don't really have a problem to use it in English anyway. The problem is that Siri is not very smart and quick to do something. The only time I use it is when I don't want to get up from bed and turn on the alarm. I just say "Hey Siri, wake me up at...". But you know what? I keep my phone in battery saving mode and there is no way to turn on the "Hey Siri" if it's in the battery saving mode. I know it sounds silly, but I think there should be something like a custom battery saving mode and give user a possibility to control what is disabled. You can turn off all those battery draining features manually, but that's not as quick as turn on the battery saving mode.

I think Siri is better in US, because of all the connected apps, but in Europe – I don't really see the pros of using Siri. And the funny thing is that Siri doesn't understand when I say "Czech republic" (my country). I was trying to pronounce it so many ways, but Siri still thinks that I say "check republic". Maybe I'm just stupid...

...but dammit, you can't even control Spotify. Ok, I know that is not the Apple's problem.

Alexa will win, largely because Amazon will be more than willing to share information about guests with the hotels as "trusted partners" so that you can get spammed during your visit about amenities they want to sell you. Apple simply will not do that.
Trusted partners... two words that, when placed together, should bother the hell out of anyone concerned with privacy. Whenever I see trusted partners I just assume, "yeah, they're getting everything". But hey, whatta ya gonna do?

I've used both pretty extensively and Alexa is unbelievably better than Siri. It really boggles my mind that a company with the resources of Apple cannot improve this feature. I think of the metaphor of the slow-turning ship.

Also: I can activate the Echo by saying "Computer" thus making me feel super futuristic.

Unfortunately Alexa is going to win over Siri. Apple has been more interested in SJW activities instead of focusing on products, and were simply unprepared to take the threat of Alexa or Cortana seriously.

Also Siri is just not adapted for open room environments - it may work well when speaking into your iPhone, but Apple has no mechanism for Siri listening and responding to anyone speaking in a hotel room.

How would you link your Siri to a specific hotel room? A full time in-room listening device (Echo) sounds easier from a setup point of view.

Alexa, plug in, hues, plug in. Setup done.
Siri day 100 still doesn't connect to HomeKit.
Alexa "what's the weather" gives weather
Siri "what's the weather" sits there spinning responds sorry I can't help right now.
Siri is ridiculous and slow and just bad. It's like yesterday's release. Here is a speed bump to our iPad line that well... also let's make a product red phone with a white front. Wtf.. apple get your head out of your ass it's like 95-99 all over again.
Apple stores go in and it's like going into a Levi's store. I'm a huge apple fan guy but boy are they testing my patience.

Nobody uses Siri.

ROFL....

I am a big apple product guy and have owned almost everything since 2003. Having said that....I would certainly state that"

SIRI is a bigoted racist- I asked a voice to text message to read as " whats the gradient across the valve" and Siri read back- "want to move to Antigua "....really SIRI. she recognized the accent, thought this was not American and suggested a move. RACIST at the least.

Now Alexa- She understands everything at any accent level. Hands down the winner in voice recognition. I mean the competition is not even on the same scale.

If you are an American who has the same accent as Siri, its might be easier, but for the rest of us who have a television accent, forget it , SIRI can recognize perhaps 10-30% of what is said.

I don't understand people's obsession with these creepy devices. Hey Siri etc. WTF. I really can't get past how lazy someone needs to be in order to use a service that negates the need to actually move even a single finger.

Of course, the world doesn't revolve around me, so that's fine, but if I ever stay in an establishment that has one, it'll be getting unplugged.

Its not about lazy.

we all spend a lot of time watching a lot of bright screens. Just an example, but fiddling and turning the alarm on prior to getting in the bed adds to screen time. You try to do that before bedtime, then the toddler sees the iPhone and wants to play with it , or wants music or you get a message or you get distracted and end up spending more unwanted time on the screen.

On an average we spend more than 10-12 hours watching various size bright screens. If AI ( Siri or Alexa) can help us from getting away from screens, it will be a huge improvement to humanity as people can concentrate on the other things they were meant to conecentrate on.

That would be a reason NOT to stay at one of these hotels! Really? Internet connected microphones in hotel rooms? Let's say it for what it is.

Sure no problem. Sorry, all cards on your account have been declined. Your room door is now locked. Please wait patiently until staff arrives to resolve this matter.

Sure no problem, request to send for police confirmed.
