Except you don't, its just because Apple rushed this out and only put 6GB of RAM in older models.

The A17 has nothing to do with it, the lack of RAM is the screw up.

They've been tight on ram for years and now people will pay the price for their greed.

You need 8GB of RAM minimum for on device AI, You can buy a £450 Pixel 8a and get Gemini nano on it because it has 8GB 🤣
Cheaped out, not rushed.

You need iPhone Pro for all Apple Intelligence features. Finally, that's enough reason for me to switch to Pro models.
Yup. Cook cant widely tout new ‘Apple ‘Intelligence’ because they were so stupid and greedy in limiting base and non-pro models (the vast majority of their customer base) against anticipated core functionality less than one year out. The competition will see additional opportunity to continue whittling away at iPhone sales. You may likely be an exception finding the reason to pay a $600 Apple tax vs many who will use it as a deciding reason to switch to android.

My question, tho, is those of us who pay for GPTPlus, will have our data and credentials obscured as well? Or that’s just for free users?

How much are the extra features of ChatGPT, and how do you subscribe to them?

It is not just siri, whole Apple is increasingly losing it
I totally agree. I am a win/android convert to Apple from 2012 and Apple software was never as bad as it is now.

From here we are going to full rebirth like a phoenix or total downhill. Anyways, their protocols of testing buggy software before releasing leaves lots to be desired.

What a total letdown this whole keynote. Everything shown competitors have already already showed or implemented. Nothing really interesting came up. A big “ME TOO” keynote. No overhaul of their apps or smart new features. Some lipstick, that’s it. No much requested update to iPadOS. 🥱🥱🥱

iPhone mirroring is really a cool feature other than that it's an uninteresting wwdc and the AI stuff is truly underwhelming. AAPL stock fell close to 2% since the start of the keynote.

Unfortunately, it is the disappointment I expected. :(

Asking for permission for sharing your screen, images, pdf data and sending it to ChatGPT is not privacy preserving.
It is not a solution, it is just offloading the decision to the user, but it absolutely does not fit into a privacy first approached OS.

"Siri will leverage GPT-4o for free, with no need to create an account."

part of the benefit of a chatgpt account is the chat history function. While Siri getting chatgpt/ai is good, I feel like there should be an *option* to save the history in the background to chatgpt or your apple account or something so if you want to revisit your conversations you can

Have you seen today's keynote?

How does this screen pop up? Is it based on the type of question you ask Siri? If you tap what happens? Does the task not complete?

Just like how we have to set cookie decisions on each website individually. And once you need to clear your browser cache, you start all over again...

ChatGPT standalone only recently became a conversation tool. It was meant to be a prompt and response generative AI, such as for writing emails, creating fiction, etc. iOS-ChatGPT integration is more a productivity tool embedded throughout your system, and not a conversationalist.

Goes to show you how far ahead GPT-4 is that Apple are integrating ChatGPT into the OS.

"we created awesome Apple Intelligence! but our Intelligence is not as good as OpenAI's". Apple looks so lame.

That’s not the case . ChatGPT isn’t integrated into your personal context, Apple Intelligence is

This is the same approach Apple took with AppleCar/CarPlay. Instead of building a car (established market), Apple pivoted to focusing on the user interface/experience within a car and integrated with the car's features. Apple is not an AI developer, but it is a productivity tool/OS bundle, now integrating the user experience with AI capabilities.

No. This is a bad comparison.

If i say no to cookies, I am less tracked, even if I say yes, basically only a text string is stored in the browser.

With Siri being overwhelmed and therefore forwarding to OpenAI, (private) text, images or documents may be shared. This is more severe.

Yes, but you have to tell the website every time you have a first site visit. Instead of a browser-based "never allow and never ask" setting, which has become available through paid extensions.
