Now if they could just restore being able to start a workout on apple watch via phone..
Can you explain this more for me? The one thing I love about my watch is NOT having to start anything with my phone so I'm curious as to your use case in wanting this.

Starting a workout using airpods that are connected to phone, primarily. It used to work fine till either ios 14 or 15, and has been broken since.

Now it just complains that you need to unlock your phone, and, if it is unlocked or do it on phone, acts as if it's starting a workout.. and then nothing happens.

I've noticed Siri misinterpreting words pretty easily, too, but most things that I use her for work well. Setting timers, setting alarms, starting/stopping navigation. All of those work well. Where she fails miserably is starting specific songs or artists.

I think pronunciation is a big factor. Have you tried over-pronouncing "day". Humans do tend to get lazy with our speech, and we expect technology to magically understand our ramblings.

"Day" "Living" "Room" -- try pronouncing each word very carefully a few times. Each successful hit will train Siri to recognize your words more accurately.
Combined with your down thumbing other posts, this is a lot of words to defend but also call out the stupidity of Siri.

Can only imagine the hard work Apple product definition team to come up with this final piece of functionality that will make Siri feature-complete. Great Work, you’re done here! Move on to save those glasses.

I hope we get a LLM powered Siri in iOS 17. People are doing crazy things already using shortcuts app and OpenAI APIs.

To be honest I already thought she could do this since it’s one of iPhones OS-features.

It’s so embarrassing how far behind Siri is.

I get what you are saying here but sometimes I just do not understand its errors. I have Siri on my HomePod mini set to the version of English for my English-speaking country. To get my most-used scene I say one word to it after 'Hey Siri' that is the name of the scene. I say it clearly, no background noise. Normally it works. But then out of the blue, still being pronounced clearly etc, it tells me it cannot turn off a scene but only turn one on. I have not asked it to turn something off. I said one word. No other scene sounds remotely like it either. I think it is the inconsistency and unpredictability that is annoying in my case. And I did report it but I feel like it would be more productive telling a random passing stray cat.

Siri understands words pretty well in my opinion. But she is horrible in interpreting these words.

And worse, since a few years her responses change from day to day. Something she does fine one day is impossible the next.

And it feels like everyone has a different Siri. I just read an article you can ask Siri about the battery percentage of your devices. I couldn’t get it to work. Today it magically works fine.

I have experienced many times that Siri can’t even make a call. It understands what I say but keep on saying “working on it “ and nothing happens. Or it tries to call and just drop it. If I do it myself, call goes. I normally request when I drive.

I want Siri to;

1) Understand the language and accent I speak automatically.

2) Give an answer without saying “here’s what I found on the internet “

3) have a continuous conversation

I don’t understand how the largest tech company in the world hasn’t improved it’s so called AI in 10 years! Sack the team and make a partnership with Open AI. Their team can help Apple
