Some iPhone owners who have the iOS 18.1 beta installed appear to be experiencing issues with the Siri personal assistant, which has stopped working sometime over the course of the last couple of days.

There are multiple reports from people experiencing issues on social media, as noted by 9to5Mac, as well as complaints on Reddit and the MacRumors forums. Impacted users are seeing a "Siri Not Available" banner when attempting to use Siri.

The banner says that "Data for Siri is downloading" or that users need to "Connect to Wi-Fi to complete Siri download." Either way, no download completes as it seems to get stuck at 99 percent, and Siri remains unavailable.

Not all users who are running iOS 18.1 are impacted, and restarting does not fix the problem. Turning off Apple Intelligence allows the old version of Siri to work, but toggling it off and on again also does not address the issue.

It is not clear what happened with Siri, but it is worth noting that iOS 18.1 is a beta and there are often bugs in betas, which is why caution should be used when installing beta software. Apple will likely push out a fix for the problem in the near future.

For now, if you need Siri access and are running iOS 18.1, temporarily turn off Apple Intelligence.

Mine randomly just started working. It no longer has the message under the Apple Intelligence toggle and I can use the Apple Intelligence Siri.

Same for me after nearly 24 hours on my 15 PM and M4 iPad Pro I think it was a server issue related to the special 18.1 for the 16 line that came out yesterday something they did messed up the AI models well it seems fixed now

I never used Siri since its inception so it doesn't matter!
I seldom use it except maybe setting timers on my AWU. But not whole lot more. Will have to see with new features as they roll out but I end to just do my own research on search engines and we shall see if the Siri version is safer/better or not time will tell of course

Hope it is fixed soon. But expecting such issues to happen as it is a beta.

Mines still not working. I’m connected to my USA account in Europe. Wonder if that’s it now for us Europeans

It's not all that great. I asked Siri 'what channel is the dolphin's game on?' last night, and it just kept pulling up NFL standings and no verbal response. Feels like it's got a long way to go before it's ready.

She went bonkers on Monday. She mispronounces names she didn’t used to do (Mom is now mum), calls the wrong person (I asked to call Mom and she said calling Mom, but then Mark answered), claims I need to unlock my iPhone yet again for a weather report, claims I do not have a light in my house named BedLights but then when asked again turns it on, refuses to even do anything and I have to just do it manually, and “Please check back in a few moments” when trying to do anything.
