Hello all
I have the Apple TV 4 model and I just wanted to updated to the latest version of tvOS
after updating I released that when I pressed navigation buttons on my Siri remote, some were ok and others seemed that they were mixed up
like going down on a menu worked only by swiping right
same thing happened when I tried to use my older remote from previous generation of Apple TV and same thing when I used the iPhone app

I did a reset and in a clean tvOS after setting up remote worked fine for 3-5 minutes and then back to misbehaving and navigation around menus went nuts again

any ideas or other people that have had same issues??

thanks!

My ATV4 remote will start acting the same way if it needs a charge.

My ATV 4 Siri Remote is the worst thing I have ever bought from Apple. Always shows 100% charged in settings but if I don’t charge it every 1.5 days, it does quirky things, including freezing a lot. I usually use it a few hours every day. Used to have ATV 3, never any trouble until lightning struck our house one morning. Wish I had hung on to the remote. And asking Siri to find something is always useless. Very strange thing is, when the Siri Remote freezes, the App Remote does too. It will work if the Siri Remote is working, very bizarre (to me). I don’t consider the ATV worthy of a 100 mike trip to my closest Apple Sore so will use my Sony TV available apps at least when I want Netflix, Amazon or Vaduz.

Ours stayed charged forever. Had it on main TV for about a year, last three months after cutting the cord using it a lot. Have only had to charge once! Haven't noticed any issues with it since upgrading to new TVOS

I thought that this might have been the cause but it was charged plus this happened to the iPhone app as well and a second 3rd Apple TV remote :(

What about a gaming system that’s close to the ATV? I have a PS4 Pro and sometimes my controllers will do what you’re describing if my Bluetooth on my iPhone 7+ is on but not connected to anything. In the case of my PS4 and ATV, I had to move the PS4 Pro and the ATV away from each other to make sure the tech didn’t cross talk with each other.

Update: for some unknown reason it seems that every time I activate voice over feature things get messy but when I have it switched off everything works fine! Weird I know

At some point I will need to find a perm entrant solution so as to have voice over on and remote working properly

Now that you've mentioned Voice Over I think I've noticed some strange behaviors once when I had one of the other Accessibility options turned on (however, it may not have been Voice Over, but one of the other options, perhaps the zoom feature).

In any case, the navigation when using Accessibility is different than when using the remote in the normal mode. In fact, there are numerous options for all of the Accessibility features and some may not be that obvious or expected. It appears that when Voice Over is turned on you can only navigate with left and right swipes, UNLESS you happen to be in the first column and then you can move between rows.

Came to this thread during search about Siri remote problems. Siri just stopped working one day. The microphone button activates Siri but it's basically deaf, shows no waveform responses to voice at all.

Turned off all accessibility functions, no change. I reset the ATV without any luck. Then I unpaired the remote to see if maybe it would restart the remote when paired again.

Well, the remote will NOT pair with the ATV now. I tried the "hold the 'up' and 'menu' buttons" for awhile as I held it right next to the box. No luck.

For such a small device this remote is the biggest turd Apple has ever made.
