I have a SiriusXM trial in my car and it’s about to end next week. Got a promo offer for an extra free three months, however it seems like you have to call them to cancel and can’t do it online. Those who’ve cancelled, is it a bunch of pushing and nagging for you to stay, or is it fairly easy? That’s the only thing that’s stopping me from getting that offer. Need some input, please. :)

Just stick to your guns, they will cancel it eventually. Usually after the second or third "I really just am not interested in keeping it" they will cancel it.

In my experience, the more you tell them you want to cancel, the lower and lower they go on the price you can pay to continue. I can usually get them to give me 6 months for $25, which I don't mind paying. But they'll eventually let you go if you stay at it.

You can haggle. I've gotten cheaper rates than @Tomorrow. Though I recall reading recently that someone managed to get 36 months for under 30, about $10 a year then. Insane! Either they lose money and report it as a loss, which is still a win for them, or their services simply don't cost as much as they rate them and thus can offer near cheap prices without going under.

Hmm, thanks for the responses, everyone. It’s rough cause I’m paying $10 for Apple Music already, but figured if I get 3 months free without any obligation, to do it. But it seems like they put up a hard fight when you want to cancel.

Yeah but in the end, you're the boss, if you persist, they will cancel you. For me, I get the select package (which now comes with streaming) at about $5 per month without much in the way of haggling. I keep it because I cut the cord years ago and it lets me keep up with the news of the day.

Alright, I did it. Only had to pay a $2.26 processing fee for another three months. May give the app a shot and see what’s on there.

I was on the $8.00 a month streaming trial. I recently cancelled. I liked Sirius, but I am happy with Spotify premium.
September, I’ll see if the cancellation went through.
I have heard stories where people have cancelled, but it was not when the next bill was due, so we will see.

I've done it, just say that you're not interested in any reduced rate and you want to quit period. They'll send you to the retentions department but that's where you just cut them short saying you don't want any discount and just please cancel the service. I've done it and its really not hard.

How far in advance did you do it before your trial ended?

I didn't have a trial, but rather I had a subscription, I cancelled 6 months into my subscription and they refunded me the difference.

Good to know, thank you. I guess I am just used to places like Amazon, Apple Music etc where you just press a button and it cancels for you. Been awhile since I’ve had to call and cancel anything. :)

When I canceled my subscription, I did it over chat. I just told them my jaw was wired shut and couldn't call them. The chat rep sent me to a supervisor who canceled my service without any issue.

If you have not given them you credit card, the’ll start sending you bills. Imo, you can ignore them and they will turn it off, but it’s better to call them and say cancel, they may try to send you to a retention person.

I need to try that. LOL
