Yeah, I think it needs to be a corporate store.
Yep, definitely needs to be a corporate store. Co-worker of mine at work, actually signed up for the promotion online, even though he got the box to ship it with. I advised him to take it to verizon corporate store and they accepted it and he got the promotional credit.

morning sent her an email saying it had cracks or deadspots and therefore was only worth $150. She now basically has to pay full price for a phone......I'm flabergasted.
Strange. My local Verizon stated I had to request the package request from "My Verizon" Account to be sent to My residence and then shipped. They would not take my SE or 6 in store. Perhaps varied policies.
same my place here

I sent my iPhone 6 into them, no issues whatsoever. The box it's shipped in and the way it's secured in the box (tight plastic film) leaves almost no chance it will be damaged during shipping unless the box is completely crushed.

I can't see Verizon scamming you. The device must not have been in the condition she stated it was in. Yet, a phone call to them with the order/tracking ID can probably get you somewhere.

That's a crack, which essentially means you tried scamming verizon- just call Verizon and act very nice to the representative or just take the 150 and tell her to budget for her phone. Or take back the 6+ and use it.

If I'm not mistaken, there is no getting the phone back once it's shipped off to Verizon. It's a one way one time deal. Once it's at their depot and inspected, there's no way to return the phone. I believe that's covered clearly in the program outline that no one reads.

After looking at the OP's pic again, it looks like there's a screen protector installed and that's what we are seeing that's messed up. If that's the case, you may have a case. Call them up with your submission ID and see if they can reinspect it.

And Verizon doesn't play games. They are fair in my opinion with customers. But they obide by their rules. That said, I am actually shocked the OP's sister received anything. They could have shipped it back with a rejection letter and no credit. Any credit is generous.

So my sister takes great care of her phones. She also took a picture of the phone before submitting it to Verizon's trade in program for the $650 credit as part of the promotion for her new iphone.

how the heck do we fight this?

First off they didn't scam her second off you or she should have read up on it first and done the research to see what is exactly what and honestly the phone it's self more then likely did have exactly what it said it had do you understand what a dead spot is? And next time sell your phone your self but honestly you would more then likely do the scamming with this attitude you have.

If you look at the bottom near the aluminium shell you see it is indeed a crack, :(. I don't want to keep sounding mean but they REALLY should've looked at the terms.

I see how you might think that it's a screen protector. I think it's just the clear film packaging material that Verizon wants you to use to secure the phone with. But the phone itself does not appear (at least to me) to have a screen protector installed.

screen damage is damage. they don't really care about some scuffs around the casing, but anything with the screen and you're screwed. maybe your sister didn't think it was bad. but it impacts them, they'd rather have a phone with a perfect screen and some scratches on the case then a phone with a tiny crack on the display.
