Apple plans to release its sixth-generation iPad mini this fall with a new design that features slimmer bezels, a larger display, and improved performance, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports.

In the latest edition of his weekly "Power On" newsletter, Gurman says the new iPad mini, which is rumored to include an 8.4-inch display, an increase from the current 7.9-inch screen size, is a "go for this fall." Apple last updated its iPad mini in 2019 with Apple Pencil support, and Gurman calls the upcoming update the iPad mini's "biggest redesign" since it launched.

Last fall, Apple updated its baseline iPad with an improved processor, followed by a major redesign to the iPad Air. The updated iPad Air features no Home Button and an-all screen design. Gurman says the iPad mini 6 will feature a design "similar" to the current latest iPad Air.

Apple leaker Jon Prosser recently shared renders of what he claims to be the upcoming iPad mini. According to the leaker, the iPad mini will feature a Touch ID sensor embedded into the power button, a hardware change first introduced in the iPad Air. He also claims it will feature an A14 chip and a USB-C port rather than a Lightning port.

Apple is said to be releasing multiple products this fall, which alongside the annual iPhone and Apple Watch revamp, we're also expecting redesigned MacBook Pros and the sixth-generation iPad mini.

Isn't the iPhone the iPad mini now? lol.
Thankfully the iPhone has not rendered the Mini irrelevant.

The Mini is an iPad running iPadOS for one. Also, the Mini doesn’t have the lame “notch.” Lastly, the iPhone doesn’t have Apple Pencil support. Hope this information was helpful.

I will gladly defend the Mini more if you’d like, though.

but please, make the new ipad mini render with 8.4" display to see the future difference even better :)

I can't do a full-body render... but here's the difference between just the screens.

Even the largest iPhone is still nowhere near the smallest iPad.

I wish this "phones are becoming tablets" meme would die already...

:p

The little kids would probably be given the cheapest iPad, which is the basic iPad. The mini is a premium device like the Air line.

I would just give them a retired Pro With a beefy case.
I have to admit. I agree with you 100% because my sister is doing the same exact thing... she gave my niece a retired iPad. LOL

The mini 4 I bought new in late 2017 was under 300 (it was the base model). It’s a fine device, I’ve used mine A LOT, but premium? I don’t know if I’d put it in quite so lofty terms

Is not a pro but premium with perfect build, good performance and so on..i can see why some call it premium device

So basically it will be a smaller iPad Air 4, which is what it should be. Mini 5 was just a smaller iPad Air 3.
It will be great news for small tablet fans. But I expect the price will be increased to $499 base. Because Apple knows that the iPad mini market is quite niche, and the people in it will be willing to pay for a mini iPad at any price.

"smaller bezels"? I really hope they go the iPad Pro/Air route with almost no bezels. This is especially important for a mini device, you really can't waste display space on an iPad mini.

Read the article. It literally says exactly that.
