Another week, another iPad Mini rumor. These rumors have been popping up since Sept 2020. Eventually they'll be correct. I feel sad for those who have been holding off buying a Mini for months because of rumors. The longer they wait, the more they MUST wait because each month gets closer to the release of the next Mini... (even if it is 9-12 months away... but they won't know that).

I am ready now to hit the pre order button and have been watching for updates. I use my mini nearly every day in addition to my 12.9 pro. Day-to-day the mini goes with me but the pro stays home/office. My mini spends most of its time in a mount on the dash. I would like face ID though the button will be fine with me.

Agreed! The iPad Air 4 received a $100 price increase from iPad Air 3 due to the redesign and I expect the Mini 6 will get the same approach.

The iPad Mini is a niche market… but kind of makes me wonder, why bring back Mini when there’s rumblings that iPhone Mini will be discontinued?
The iPad mini has lower risk/cost than the iPhone mini, imo. And Apple doesn't refresh iPad mini yearly. Meanwhile, they have to keep refreshing the iPhone mini yearly if it is still part of the main lineup (thus I am expecting the mini to be the form factor for the next SE. That way Apple won't feel the need to refresh it yearly).

I‘m using an iPad Mini as my main computer... it‘s awesome when you travel alot... small footprint...lightweight enough, so that you can easily keep it in your hands for hours in a bed, bus, train, car, etc. ...I came from an 11inch iPad Pro and would never go back... one more reason for me is the missing Lightning connector... it‘s so stupid that you have to bring two cables (for ipad+iphone) on your trips every time! I’d much rather prefer Lightning over USB-C for that reason on mobile devices.

One little pro tip from someone who bought like 10 different cases for the mini: Definitely check out the Poetic Turtleskin... the Mini is so awesome to hold in this case and you can lean it on basically everything due to the sticky rubber which makes it incredibly versatile... but be aware of the added weight! I had the turtleskin for the 11inch before but it was so damn heavy... after a couple of month I had to deal with cramps in my hand and wrist pain.

I won‘t upgrade if the ipad has USB-C... atleast not as long the iPhone has no usbc as well

iPad Mini users are probably rocking an hand-me-down iPhone 7 or something like that.
Can’t speak for everyone, but I have a iPhone 12 mini, use an iPad Pro 13” for work, and still have my 1st-gen iPad Pro (which replaced my first iPad mini) for personal use and I’m stoked for a new iPad mini.

The size is perfect for note-taking, one-handed reading, etc. While I love the iPad Pro, I’ve found that I miss the iPad mini — much more that I thought I would when I replaced my mini with the iPad Pro.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing on all that. I’m hoping they abandon the Mini from the fall lineup to transition the design/form factor in the SE version. But I think in order to do so… they might put TouchID on the side and remove FaceID.

I have been wondering where Apple if going to take the iPad mini and the base iPad. The latter could eliminate the need for an iPad Air.

I just bought a used IPad Mini 4 cellular, 128 GB. The owner had used it at the beginning and then put it in a drawer.
It has been waiting there for me for almost 3 years:)
It is like new and has no signs of use, for only 220 € a real bargain.
I use it for Netflix or surfing the net on the go, and it's easy to hold on to the wide bezels. I don't know if I should spend €700 on an iPad Air mini now.

Hmmm haven't had a mini in quite a few years now but if they knock off the bezels I wonder if I couldn't use it as a make-shift Apple Car Play device in my Lexus that missed Car Play integration by one stinkin' year? Looks to be about the same width as my nav screen. I hate the navigation system in my Lexus.

Many who are eager for an updated Mini complain about the current pricing of the Mini. Complaints are going to rise sharply should an Air/Pro-inspired Mini 6 pricing go up. I expect entry level to MSRP at $499 for 64GB.

(from a psychological perspective, people think that smaller things should cost less than larger things)

I'm a big fan of the Mini. Any update is going to be good news for me, but in different ways. If a Mini 6 is simply an upgraded internals version of the 5, then I'll update to the 6 at the first sale that appears. If a Mini 6 is an Air/Pro-inspired design, then I know that the 5 will be may last Mini. (I find the older form-factor/chassis to be better for me than the Air/Pro style)

Yay! This is the ipad I’ve been waiting for. As an artist, I love my iPad Pro… but I travel a lot, and would love something smaller for when i want to go light. I’ve been waiting for an ipad mini with apple pencil 2 support & the flat edged design of the pros. Crossing my fingers that this rumor be true. 🤞

I'll be first in line to buy two of them. The mini is perfect for pilots as it fits comfortably on a yoke and with ForeFlight is almost essential for aviation now.

Apple leaker Jon Prosser recently shared renders of what he claims to be the upcoming ‌iPad mini‌. According to the leaker, the ‌iPad mini‌ will feature a Touch ID sensor embedded into the power button, a hardware change first introduced in the ‌iPad Air‌. He also claims it will feature an A14 chip and a USB-C port rather than a Lightning port.
Anyone could guess that a future update to the iPad mini will mimick those of the iPad Air 2020. Duh! Whether it happens are not is another story.

BTW, I love my iPad Air 2020 with its smaller bezels, except those small bezels mean that prolonged holding will inevitably result in a thumb or finger making contact with the screen at an inopportune moment. Not that big of a deal. However, I love my iPad mini 5 best for reading due to its smaller, lighter size. I really don't see smaller bezels as a good thing for those who use their mini primarily for reading, and do so while holding it in the hands. It wouldn't be worth the extra 1/2" of screen diagonal. For a reading device, a bezel large enough to rest one's thumb is a good thing. You could place the mini on a table or desk to read, or use one of those horrible cases with a hand strap that never seems to work well, but holding it in your hands similar to a book is the way I read on it. So if they do release a iPad mini 6 with small bezels, I'll stick with my iPad mini 5 instead. It has more than enough power for reading, and an extra 1/2" of screen diagonal won't improve the small screen much for web surfing.

It's a shame IMO they went with a larger screen, I would rather they made the entire package smaller to be more portable.

I've been waiting for this for a few years now.. my mini 2 is dying in my hands and i need a replacement soon :) hope the redesign thing is actually true cause i've been on the verge of buying an air 4 since it was presented... but i like the mini size so much more.

Instant buy! This redesign has been on my want-list for many years. The mini is the perfect size for the way I use an iPad.

The main picture in this article threw me off as it shows shrunken bezels that are still quite large, but the leaker actually shows no home button and bezels that are comparable to the pro/air. Looks like this will be my first mini!

The iPad mini should be 100$ less then the air and have the same design. I think the air is almost as good as the pro and does really well for me. I would of considered a mini if it had the same design for 100$ less.
I always thought the mini was the best size for use without feeling that too big to hold feel you get from basically all the ipad models. You get tired of holding them over 5-10 minutes and always want to have it being supported from something. The mini never felt too huge to make it feel like I needed something else to hold it for me.

My dad is a Samsung/Huawei guy, and he likes his iPad mini as a online poker/chess game tablet. (the technical ones, not the gamble kind)

It's close to Kindle size, which for me is the perfect size for reading without having support.
