Way to big to comfortably fit in my pockets. What's the use of a mobile phone if it's too big to have on you? For something I can't stick on my body without a bulge or a bag, I prefer an iPad or MacBook Air. Hopefully, if Apple goes this way, they'll offer a choice for people who want a more mobile device. Maybe a wearable.

It's supposed to be a mold for a case. Cases are usually thicker to offer more protection.

It's to help design a case. If this was thicker than the actual phone any cases from it would be loose on the actual phone.

This block is how they let case designers make cases for launch without giving them an actual phone.

Why can't they put everything in the earpiece slit? Make it a wider opening and put the FaceTime camera on one end, the earpiece in the middle, and the light sensor on the other end. Makes it look more streamlined.

I like the way you think! They should totally do that. I don't like the stacked camera/speaker as it is. Seems not clean enough for Apple design.

I'm pretty sure this is not a mold but rather a dummy unit just to test how cases fit before they can try them on an actual iPhone 6.

Assuming it's real, this would have pretty much exactly the same dimensions as the real iPhone 6, otherwise the cases this case maker makes won't fit properly. Cases need to have exact dimensions up to fraction of millimeters, so logically, the dummy unit needs to too.

new models

Whatever genius in Apple thought that going to a .7 inch larger screen should be taken out back and shot. What will .7 inches do? The only way to go is 5.7 inch screen. Lets get it right this time bozo's.

That looks truly terrible. Just look at the corner radii.

What the hell is this? A piece of charcoal would probably come closer to the iphone 6

It's time for something new.

Please, no. Since the 4 the iPhone is still the most elegant/timeless looking smartphone there is. I haven't seen another 'base' smartphone design I'd rather have.
Keep milking. Keep refining.

I would never buy a device that large for taking calls. I want a phone, not a phablet. Apple would have to have really lost the plot to put out a phablet.

I fail to understand how anyone wants a phablet. Sure people have their excuses for wanting one. But those excuses just make their lives more complicated.

Lol. 4.7 inches isn't a "phablet", it's not even that much bigger than the 5S.

And no, people don't pretend to like bigger phones and make excuses to justify it. They just actually like them.

Why would it cause a bulge if it will be just as thin if not thinner then the current iPhone? And people make way too much of a deal out of the pockets thing. You can fit small tablets like a nexus 7 in regular sized pockets (which is ridiculous I agree), so why couldn't you fit a slightly larger phone like 4.7 in your pockets? Your pockets must be absolutely tiny.

No.

.7 inches makes a huge difference, just look at the iphone 5/5S vs HTC one. It's also a sweet spot for many and isn't too large for people who hate big screens.

5.7? Yeah like they'd really release that as the only size.

Leaked iPhone cases? Where have I seen that before? Hmmm.

I fail to understand why people think their way of living, and only their way, should apply to everyone.

I hope this isn't the 6.

why? apple doesn't do change-for-change's-sake, they've said this. if it isn't part of the function its not part of the form.

do you ask your home receiver to radically redesign its shape? why not?

you're asking your technology to alleviate your boredom.

completely disagree with you. and seeing as apple makes the #1 and #2 or 3 best-selling smartphones in the world, i think you're more likely to be the bozo than they are. (btw, the plural of bozo is spelled "bozos", no apostrophe since it's not possessive nor a contraction.

where are your products?

Oh? Explain iOS 7 then.

that's software, not hardware. but were i to take a guess, id say it's because Ive believes in the minimal design of iOS 7 and didn't in the skeuomorphic nature of < 7. for years people had been criticizing iOS' felt & faux-leather as not matching aesthetic of Ive's hardware...so he made an OS that does match his sleek, minimal hardware. you may not like it, or all of it (i dont), but that isn't the same as changing for the hell of it.

it was Ive himself who said he doesn't do change-for-change's sake.

You do realize, like the Macbook Pro series, that this design will be the face of Apple for years to come. According to designs developed by Jobs and Ives from the court case between Samsung and Apple, the metal, square design was the original design of the iPhone but wasn't used because of technological issues (developing the glass and aluminium). This was somewhat mentioned in the Jobs biography also. Unless Ives thinks of a better design or he is bored with the current one, the fundamental design of iPhone will not change. The current design is the pinnacle of Ives imagination (unless they developed better material).

I'm not arguing they are to change for change sake.

I believe the reason for change from iOS 1-6 to 7 was to stave off the growing impression that iOS was becoming stale.

Check the press prior to WWDC 2013, it was replete with growing criticism of Apple's seemingly stagnant OS.

Change for change's sake? No. I don't see the logic in that. Change to prove you are still capable of innovating, I can see that.

Now, back to the iPhone 4 design language. That was the last time in iPhone hardware that Apple proved they were still an innovative powerhouse.

Apple knows that they have to appear to be still capable of great ideas, especially in wake of their 2011 loss.

Changing the 4 year old iPhone design is inevitable. It's just a matter of when.

Fake or not - I hope Apple would do something similar - wider for more content not just longer like the current 5/5s models.

The "longer" iPhone 5 was simply a move to a more standard 16x9 aspect ratio.

I don't think Apple will be abandoning 16x9
