Seeing how it didn't really get updated and the Phablet phone they now offer I would believe it.

I agree 100% with this. Why would anyone buy an iPad Mini when there's an iPhone 6 Plus available? iPad Air's and iPad Pro make perfect sense. The mini is like the 5c now. There to make sure people who don't necessarily have the money can afford an iPad. Next year maybe they'll simply move up to an A8 iPad mini, A7 iPhone 5c A8 iPhone 5s etc. They should def keep the iPhone 5s size around and add NFC for Apple pay.

Guys I know a lot of you are mentioning sales.

Think from a corporate point of view, its not sales which is important, its the profit margins, markup, contribution etc.

Just because a product is selling well, does not automatically make it better or worse necessarily.

That's not 100% true. Lower margin items could still be desirable if the volume of sales makes up for the lower margins.

I hope this is true, for me anyway. Really dont like the mini.

The mini is a nice size to carry in my purse. As soon as I take it out I think that Steve was right. I wish it could morph into an iPad on use but back to the mini when stowed.

Now, if it had reliable WiFi that would be something!

iPod touch to the iPhone 6 plus size

when the iPhone 6 plus came out , some people said it would take the place of the iPad mini. I now believe it. But I have a another twist. I think apple still wants to cater to the crowdf that don't want phone service but also want a smaller tablet. I think apple will not only get rid of the iPad mini but will cater to the non-phone users by upgrading the iPod touch to the iPhone 6 plus size.

some will doubt this and say its dead. i think the purchase of beats disproves that. i expect the iPod line to get a refresh with a larger iPod touch, with beats headphones and beats music subscription included

Hard to belief

Apple has the biggest line up of iPad minis ever. There is the iPad mini, the iPad mini 2 and the iPad mini 3. That's not really a sign of Apple losing interest.

I would not use an iPad Air if it was free and I'm not the only one. It's not portable.

My Mini is the best Apple product I've ever owned.

Choices. I don't declare that the Air is stupid even though I think it is. Why do people come on here and act like the Mini is stupid? I know probably 25 iPad owners off the top of my head and and its easily 20-5 for Mini versus Air.

You can be "sure" of whatever you want.
That's the consumer rating. Lol, do you think they made it up??

I think they spun it - especially given the recent JD Power satisfaction reports.

But hey - I'm not the type to simply believe something because the CEO of a company says something at their own keynote. I like to research on my own...

the mini fills the gap perfectly. still alot more screenestate than the 6+.

I think the Mini is the perfect size. I love mine, but decided to switch to the iPad Air 2 for the processor, the RAM, and how thin it is. If there was an option for the Air 2 internals inside the Mini I think tons would pounce on it

I too hope it's a joke. I find my iPad mini 2 to be perfect for my lifestyle: easy enough to be productive while portable enough to carry in my backpack. For everything else, I use the 6. I really have no use for my MBP anymore since there are so many great apps out there.

If this be a tale of truth, then it looks like the iPad mini was released grudgingly in response to the popularity of 7"ers, but now that Apple has put the boot into Samsung and decimated their bottom line with the iPhone 6 and 6+, the incentive has gone. I don't want an iPad mini but I was looking towards that if the iPod touch was not going to be updated soon as it's getting a bit slow. I certainly am not going to purchase a $900 phone because the iPod touch is going to be pulled so that leaves me with the only option of staying with the long in the tooth iPod touch or purchasing a used iPhone 5s as an iPod upgrade.

If this is what obliterating the competition means then let's all hope that Samsung can recover soon.

The iPad mini is perfect since it fits well on the yoke of an airplane (my iPad is used only for aviation). The full size one is just too big to really use in the airplane. I hope they keep the mini.

I would agree with this report, I mean it's not like they don't ditch products, they scrapped the 17" MacBook Pro due to poor sales and they scrapped the Mac Pro for a while in Europe whilst waiting to launch the new one.

And considering the non existent iPad Mini update they did, yeah I can see it being dropped from the product range along with the iPod Touch. Apple is very very careful with how it allocates all its massive resources and money, it doesn't put them into products it doesn't believe in anymore that's for sure.

Mind you the only reason I think the iPad Mini may not sell so well is more to do with the excellent competition available at all price ranges.

Too many assumptions for this to be true: (1) Apples are working on iPad pro, (2) work on iPad pro interferes with mini, (3) Apples choose pro over mini.

I dont agree with you. I wear shirts that have a front chest pocket that is big enough for the iPad air. I'll be making a video soon to show people. it is very portable if you do it right

That would be great, but I doubt Apple would increase the size to the iPhone 6+ size. More likely, they would give it a 4.7 inch screen.

BTW: If and when they upgrade the iPod Touch, could it have TouchID? Looks like Apple has been phasing it into thier mobile lineup. Or Apple could discontinue the product. I've seen it less and less as more people are switching from iPods to iPhones.

Personally, though, I would be happy if they put an A7 in it and kept the same pricing. It's a good entry level device.

If they drop the mini there is only one reason and that is that the bean counters don't like the profit margin

When the iPhone 7+ comes out it will have touch I'd built into the display. They will drop the home button, shrink all the bezels, keep the device the same size and have a true mini replacement

since iphone 6+ i could give a damn about my ipad. iphone 6+ and macbook is the sweet spot

I was going to say the exact same thing.... about my iPhone6 and my iPad mini in a clam case. I hope to god that this whole thing is a joke. A 12" iPad? Getting rid of the mini? Fark, I'd be pissed.

Because some might think the iPhone 6 Plus is a monstrocity to carry around, and the iPad Mini is the perfect size for the stuff they do? I'm in that camp, the iPad mini is the only iPad I care about, and I've owned most models large and mini since they first came out. No interest in the iPhone 6 plus. I think I simply dont fit into Apple's future plans, and have been considering my exit strategy from Apple's ecosystem for a little while now.
