They won't release any such thing, because it doesn't fit their aesthetic preferences for slim and small, and because to make meaningful use of the larger size, it would need a higher-resolution screen. Right now, iOS and its apps only need to support a few screen sizes: old iPhone/iPod touch, Retina iPhone/touch, iPhone 5, original iPad, and Retina iPad.
Too bad, because I would buy one immediately upon release -- even if it only offered an enlarged version of the existing Retina iPad screen resolution. I would be delighted with a larger screen for reading, maps, sheet music, and chord charts.
Only I'm not sure about the name "iPad Maxi". I'd vote for "iPad Magnum."
