Ok and therefore you can pick and choose what's available, and that is the 6/6+ or 5S.

You have a lot of maturing to do if you think that apples going to release a device that is not in demand.

The only reason the 4" devices did great was because that's all that was available. If Apple relewses a 4" device next year i can bet that the 4.7/5.5 will do better.

4" phones serve no purpose anymore.

Go buy an android if u want choice

Exactly, I have a choice and the only options are NOT the 6/6 Plus and 5s, you're forgetting the option of simple not upgrading. I don't have to do anything. I was merely pointing to the fact that I would upgrade if they did release another 4" iPhone.

"4" phones serve no purpose"..That is probably the dumbest thing I've read on here before..4" phones to serve a purpose, just because YOU don't like them or want them, doesn't mean millions upon millions of other people don't still continue to buy them.

Since I have a small tablet I'm also lookin for a simple small smartphone with a good camera.

It's not only one-hand use mind you, 6 and 6+ are just too big to carry around..it's not that we are wearing tight jeans all the time or have small pockets, we just don't want a big phone.

It fits in my pocket with no problems

I held on to my 5S after I tried the new 6. (I didn't even pick the 6S up since I already own an iPad...)

An updated 4" phone would be enough to get me to upgrade but I have no interest in a phone that doesn't easily fit in my pocket.

Sadly, at 14 months old, my 5S is showing it's age and I'm working out where I go from here. The guts in newer Android phones make the 5S feel slow and clunky. If I switched it would be the first non-Apple smartphone I've ever owned but I'm confident I'm not getting a contract on an outdated 5S and there's no way in hades I'd pay $600 for unlocked two-year-old technology.

Don't EVER update the ios if you want that phone to last! Apple's engineered obsolescence will SHOOT your phone to hell the second you update the ios. If you're already on ios 8 you should be fine but don't even think of updating to ios 9 once it comes out.

You should just get an android device. The nexus 5 runs circles around the iphone 6. And lollipop is buttery fast. All your headaches will go away. Believe me hunny, we ALL made that big decision when we switched to android and you must do the same. It's a very important milestone into adulthood. Don't get me wrong, I like apple products, I have a 2007 macbook, 2009 imac and the last ipod classic, but their software has REALLY gone downhill in the last few years. Heck, once I backup everything I have I'm downgrading this stupid mavericks to leopard. Everything worked fine on leopard. I don't need anything new. I will also have another partition but for lion since I paid for it on my macbook. That will keep me current at least.

PLEASE APPLE! Just make the iPhone 6 with a 4" screen. You would have the perfect line up. I'm trying to like the 4.7", but everytime I use someone's old iPhone 5, it just feels perfect!

5S is showing its age?! Still feels new to me

This was the line at the Apple Store at the Florida mall in Orlando FL, this morning for the 6/6+. I was like to the gentlemen conducting the workshop, did apple came out with something that I didn't know about? He was like no that's the 6/6+ line. I was like what!!!, apple sure hit the jack pot with the 6/6+ I hope for the people who desire the 4" screen that there is some truth to this rumor. But with the big hit of the 6/6+ I seriously doubt that they are going to make a 4" anytime soon are any for that matter. This line started out side the store all the way down to the Payless store which is like four store down from the Apple Store.

The 6 isn't much bigger.

I can't stand posters like you who won't give the phone a chance. Playing with it in store for 5 minutes doesn't count. Give yourself a week

It is bigger though, and lets not generalize shall we? Some people have actually tried it before returning it.

doubt it.

a lot of people on here were using it for a day or 2 and then got fed up. there's an adjustment period.

Maybe the "C" line won't be killed. They could be releasing a 6S, 6S+ and a new 6C with a 4" screen and a plastic case as the low cost option.

I could really go for that. I love my 5C. I was thinking to just get a flip phone when it dies, and stick with my mini iPad for whatever net connection I need while running errands. But your suggestion would be great!

As long as they use iPod colors, or the normal colors :D

I don't see Apple keeping a 4 inch any longer. They will just phase them out over the next year or so and the previous generation of 4.7 inch will be the new budget model.

2015 will be the last year of the 4 inch phone. Strong sales have seen to that, just as the strong sales of the 4 inch saw the 3.5 inch fade into oblivion. Also, those people who hope Apple do bring back a 4 inch, don't expect it to be specced the same as the top end models. It will be hobbled like all the end of tier phones.

Beating a deadhorse.

No one denies the iPhone 6 has been successful. No one is against larger iPhones. Maybe your line would be much longer if there was a 4" iPhone on sale too. But I don't want to put too many ideas into your head that you can't comprehend.

Are u happy? Because I am, I don't have time for the petty stuff. I was just giving my taughts on why I don't think apple will make 4" again that's it. I didn't say anything about people being against larger phones etc. anyway it's all good u try to have a good night peace.

I'm pretty sure the 5S is selling far better than the 5C did last year, or the 4S the year before that, all of which were in the same position in the lineup so I think Apple will see that the demand is still there and release an updated one even if it isn't completely top of the line.

I have the iPhone 6 and I started to wonder if the 4" was perfect until I used my brother's 4s. I'm convinced that the 4.7" is the perfect size and it doesn't make any sense to go smaller.

The 4S was 3.5" not 4". That said I'd like to see options of 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5. Personally I think the 4.7" size is just an awkward in between size that is too small for the advantages of a big screen, but too big for the advantages of a small one.

I'd be very happy to try this, providing the build quality isn't crap like my 6 and 6s+ were. I'm perfectly happy without 3D touch and other bells and whistles (read yet more components shoved into a tiny space.)

As far as who this is geared toward, anyone who prefers a smaller handset.

I enjoyed the 6s+ for the nice screen and the battery life and while I could use it just fine, I've realized phone screen size just won't work for what I need to do.

The iPad mini is the sweet spot for a portable screen, rocking a smaller phone is fine now.

Now colors... I quite liked the red in the project red iPod Touch I temporarily owned, so that's probably what I would get if this phone is released.

Apple just needs to take the iPhone 6 and put it in the iPhone 5s form factor and call it "iPhone 6s". It will use the A8 processor, which is much better than the A7, and the iPhone 7 models will use the A9 processor. Better yet, have all models use the A9 processor and call the models iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7s.

hunh?? I don't understand this brand shuffling idea at all.

Also, the A8 is not "much better" than the A7. They're pretty similar actually.
