Now this is a proper "finally". I've been waiting for this since I got the original Apple TV more than a decade ago.

So essentially, Sky are sh*t scared of allowing ‘proper’ streaming of their services because of perceived piracy?

Subscribe to our top priced services and we’ll ‘allow’ you some very basic streaming options with plenty of caveats?

Thanks, I’ll pass 😀

I ditched the overpriced Sky service many many years ago, long before Sky Q. I switched to simple FreeSat setup and never missed anything Sky had to offer and saved myself a fortune. That is until F1 moved to Sky only, so a small subscription to NOW.tv for F1 only. Sky need to reduce their subscription to a quarter of what it is now before I'd even consider going back
I was the same but instead of going to NOW TV I got an F1TV Pro subscription by using a VPN and signing up via Belgium. £5.99 a month and you still get the SKY commentary with Crofty et al and also the optional F1 live commentary plus any onboard camera and live sweary team radio.

That’s what I am currently doing, but I can only get it to work on my TV by using my iPad Pro to watch it and then plug it into my TV, if I try Airplay it just stops playing in the app and I get an error.

Keep trying it will airplay eventually

Beta no longer works, guess it’s the multi room requirement. What a bunch of arse!

Back to using the PS5 to watch Sky

Nope it won’t do it, it just errors again and again and again.. if I stop using my VPN, I have to use that to watch the F1 on the F1TV app in my country, then it will work just fine. They have fixed the app so it won’t use Airplay when you are using a VPN.

Works worth Surfshark as the VPN not tried any others. F1 Live and International comms feeds airplay fine, quality is better than Sky. Driver onboards fail to airplay to my Apple TV funnily enough.

Tried it with Surfshark and got the exact same results, so that doesn’t work either for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

In Italy will arrive as usual in 1/2 years 🫠

Sky cannot figure it out how to do bussiness in other countries and how much money can be saved by offering unified service. Instead they are using every country as testing ground for feature for another country. How many years people talked about Sky without satellite dish? Germany got it first. How many about Sky Q on Apple TV? Germany get it first? How many about full Sky Q experience via fibre connection - guess what? Italy got it first.
And yet they don't want to offer their service in France and Poland - two biggest countries in EU among those where they are not available.
Even worse when NBC created Peacock Sky Q customers didn't get it until recently but that's not Sky fault that Comcast executives lives in the 90s still.

And yet even worse,Sky is supposed to launch in Poland and other eastern european countries but only with streaming service called SkyShowtime, without satellite offering.
How the hell Sky which is owned by Comcast cooperate with Showtime that is owned by Viacom? Why not name the service Paramount+ like in civilised countries?

I miss those old days of 1992-1993 when I could watch legally Sky One in Poland, this channel introduced me to american classics like "McHales Navy" "Bewitched" "Hunter" "Hart to Hart" "V" and of course The Next Generation and some crappy Wrestling magazines just on the road to Wrestlemania when Yokozuna beat even Hulk Hogan :p
Anybody remembers "Games World" magazine monday to friday at 7?

Sky will charge you for:

1080P HD
4K
Multi room,
All the channels,

And you do not own any of the Sky Q equipment, we've had it for ages, unfortunately, and I was interested in getting the new HLG UHD, turned out that the HLG HDR was only available on newer Sky Q boxes then we had yet to get one I would have to pay Sky £50! Now bear in mind we pay the exact same as someone who has the newer box and you do not own any of the equipment, you are renting it, I told them where to go..

If it was up to me we wouldn't have it in the house.
In Poland you don't pay for HD but I believe Sky is still light years ahead of what Vivendi crap Canal+ has to offer.

The Multiviewer for F1 app takes all of the F1TV streams and displays as many as you like on the desktop at once. Live races are DRM'd for Airplay but full replays are not. MacOS universal binary. Screenshot 2022-09-03 at 23.56.40.png

Thanks, I got it working again though, it’s to do with the bug in iOS that affects VPN’s, I have to faff around with turning airplane mode on and off but eventually I get it to Airplay fine.

Huh but there is already the Sky Q app for the Apple TV? The addition of the Sky Go app would mean that NON Sky Q customers would finally be able to use it on the Apple TV, otherwise it wouldn’t make much sense considering the Sky Q app already exists.

By the way, they only check the IP to make sure you are in the same household as the Sky box on paper. Been using it on the other side of Germany for over a year
I think the Q app is not available in the UK but is available in the EU.

not sure why its that way but that's how they want it.
