Sky Offers Betting Odds on iPad 3 Features

A British sports book is offering odds on whether certain features will be included in the iPad 3 which is expected to be announced next week.

The web is awash with rumours about the specifications of the new hardware and Sky Bet has chalked up odds on exactly which features it will and won't have.

Sky Bet's Helen Jacob, said: "It would be foolish to bet on the specification of most new products given the risk of information leaks but details of new Apple products are so well guarded that we have no qualms about offering odds."

Sky Bet, a division of News Corp., is taking bets on a number of different features, but has kept maximum bets low "due to the risk of people with insider info", according to Jacob.

- Will the iPad 3 have a Retina Display?
Yes: 1/8 - Max bet: £1,600
No: 9/2 - Max bet: £44.44

- Will the iPad 3 launch with a Samsung-made AMOLED screen?
Yes: 8/1 - Max bet: £25
No: 1/25 - Max bet: £5,000

- Will the iPad 3 actually be called the iPad 2S?
Yes: 1/8 - Max bet: £1,600
No: 9/2 - Max bet: £44.44

- Will the US Market have an iPad 3 LTE version?
Yes: 5/4 - Max bet: £160
No: 4/7 - Max bet: £350

- Will the iPad 3 hardware include an NFC chip?
Yes: 4/1 - Max bet: £50
No: 1/7 - Max bet: £1,400

Will the iPad 3 have 128GB of storage?

Other way around. You get 1/50th + your original bet.

Bet 10,000; and you'll get 10,200 if you win. 0 if you lose.

This. Retina media hype is gonna kill iPad 2S/3.

It's going to have 2x resolution... but Retina? It is dropping to a mere 260ish pixel density. I'm not sure that still qualifies as Retina unless you play games with 'typical viewing distance'.

The odds and max bets are pretty pointless. Understandable, but still pointless. Maximum payout per bet is £200. Invest those £10000 on no SD card slot in AAPL instead and sell them when the iPad 3 is released and you will most likely make more money, much more actually I guess.

Placed a couple of bets that I'm quite confident on:

No carbon fibre backplate - We've seen it. It's not.
No to it being called the iPad 2S instead. The rumours strongly suggest a significant update, I don't think this is going to merely be an "S" revision.
