I am trying to register an account and when I go to select my country from the drop down menu, United States isn't listed....

You may have to provide a passport though, that's something I don't have :(

I could destroy these bets! Does anyone know if it's legal to place bets if you live in the U.S.?

Lol. No it's not legal, but it doesn't stop the other million Americans from getting on the Super Bowl, March Madness, World Series, World Cup, or just about any other sports related event.

Some of these bets are worded such that, if Skybets were really evil, they could totally scam a bunch of people out of money.

For example:
Will the iPad 3 include an NFC chip? Well that depends on how you define an NFC chip. I could see lots of people betting "no", but Bluetooth 4.0 could be considered by some people as an NFC chip. "Near Field Communication" could mean anything.

Will the iPad 3 feature a carbon fiber backplate? Most would bet no, but what about the black band that goes over the 3G radio? What's that made of? If the new iPad 3G does use carbon fiber for that black band, does that qualify?

And of course, if Apple does 2x resolution but doesn't market it as "Retina" does that count? What if Skybets were evil and they defined "retina" as greater than 300 dpi, and therefore "it's not retina because it's only 276 ppi"? (you know immediately after the iPad 3 announcement there's gonna be lots of haters anyway trying to claim its not retina)

And what if Apple does call the thing iPad 2S instead of iPad 3? What does that do to all the other bets in the list since they're all using the name "iPad 3"? Does that mean Skybets will throw out all the bets that reference the word "iPad 3"? A lawyer could have a field day with this.

Skybets could find themselves in a heap of trouble with people arguing the outcome of these bets based on the wording. Even if Skybets isn't trying to mislead people, there will still be some betters who will claim that they technically won a bet based on the wording.

i doubt it your country won't even let u use bet fair

so much for the land of the free;)

Page is down again - think they released this was not such a good idea.

As long as it is not called the 2S and does not have a carbon fibre back I stand to make about £400. Fingers crossed.

I can afford to loose the money but would rather not! I will only be hurting if it does have a carbon fibre back, if it is the 2S that is not much loss.

Will the iPad 3 have a Retina Display?
Yes

Will the iPad 3 launch with a Samsung-made AMOLED screen?
Definitely not AMOLED, probably Sharp/LG. Not Samsung.

Will the iPad 3 actually be called the iPad 2S?
No

Will the US Market have an iPad 3 LTE version?
Yes

Will the iPad 3 hardware include an NFC chip?
No, they'll launch this with iPhone.

Will the iPad 3 have 128GB of storage?
Maybe.

Will the iPad 3 include a Thunderbolt port?
No

Will the iPad 3 include a SD card slot?
No

Will the iPad 3 feature a carbon fiber backplate?
No

Would never gamble. But it was fun to guess.

They are a regulated business so if they played games like that they probably would lose their license.

Can anyone confirm if you really need a passport to register if you're in the US? I'm really wanting to make some money. Thanks in advance!

God, you know a company's products are popular when people place bets on what the next generation product's hardware will be.

No bet if it will be available for purchase on the day of the announcement?? Ahh, common!

Pretty awesome, but I wish you could make more money. I wonder if they are testing the waters and will open up for big winners for the iPhone 5. The sad thing is, the outcome is already known by some which seems against the point of gambling.

Shouldn't the outcome not be known yet or have way of being known? I.e. Horse Racing, etc.

You already know what Apple is going to release?

Just out of. Curiosity how much do you guys plan on better I order to get a fair amount of cash?

Isn't online gambling illegal in the US?

You won't make much money from this. Also, if you have to bet in pounds, the conversion charges back and forward would wipe out any wins.

It's a waste of time.

These should be put up on Prediculous.com. Can't bet any money there but it would be fun to guess and see how we did.

Yeah, they seem to be permanently off the site now :(

Such a pity, I was going to back up the truck on the carbon fibre and retina display bets... and probably a fair bit on the 2S bet (no).

Would have paid for my iPad :(
