I'm a bookie by trade and this has got to be the most stupid thing I've ever heard.

So if I believe the next iPad will be called the iPad 3 I can more than quadruple my stake? That's an unbelievable bet. I just can't imagine it being called the iPad 2S!

That's not an $8 bet I think. That's a $1.12 bet. So you'll make 12.5¢ on every dollar you put in. That's how I am reading it.

I agree - stupidity at its finest. It is not like the outcome of this is not known ahead of time, this is not like a football game. Not a game of probability here. Some guy from Foxconn could easily win a lot of money here.

Would sure beat the wage they apparently seem to be getting huh?

Can somebody who managed to get their bet in before the 404 redirection replaced the Specials Page let me know whether Sky were allowing multiples on these iPad Specials?

With combined odds, this would have represented easy money...

EDIT: Just did a bit of my own digging. The 404 only happens if you're on the SkyBet Beta Site. The Special is still listed on the old site as per the below (NB. You might need to opt-out of the Beta in the yellow bar at the top of the screen)

Looks like the market has been officially suspended for some reason...

im sure vegas has some odds on it. americans can go there and do some "legal" betting.

Nope. NV regulations prohibit betting on events where the outcome can be discovered before public announcement.

You already know what Apple is going to release?

Just out of. Curiosity how much do you guys plan on better I order to get a fair amount of cash?

I have no idea, but as the poster above pointed out, SkyBet may know what the product is if they have a contact at Apple. I would never bet on something where the outcome could be known by anyone. I agree with the Nevada approach, if the outcome may be known, it can't be bet on.

By SkyBet possibly knowing the outcome, it to me is very shady to offer odds on it.

And besides thats a little too close to Cupertino, I'm sure no casino wants someone with inside information coming down and cleaning them out.

Why they pulled it:

"Within a half an hour of the markets opening we took a flood of money including a string of very chunky three-figure bets," Sky Bet's Helen Jacob told TechRadar.

"If the money is correct, then the new hardware will definitely not have a new carbon fibre casing, will not be called the iPad 2S and will have 128GB of storage!"

If anyone wants to place some bets on the ipad3 features without using real money, Prediculous has similar questions up on their site now that you can bet points on. You can't win anything but more points but it can be a lot of fun to make predictions and see how they come out.

My god, did I just make a spam post? What have I become?

- Will the iPad 3 actually be called the iPad 2S?
Yes: 1/8 - Max bet: £1,600
No: 9/2 - Max bet: £44.44

It seems a lot of people don't understand betting odds on here.

Including me, apparently, forget i said anything ;)
