I'm surprised by the number of people that believe theres still going to be something called the MacBook Air.

The new rMB is the MacBook Air. It's essentially thinking hey, they're going to make an iPad and an iPad Air every year.

As I said on another thread, the 12" MacBook was Apple's vision of the future of computing. In the near future, the MacBook will feature wireless charging and in time most computers will act as a dumb terminal as more and more apps become web-based (hence the reason why such a machine will never require a beefy CPU). The MacBook will serve a purpose for the masses - eventually. It's not quite time yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 14/15" version appear and for the MacBook to co-exist alongside the Air & Pro line for at least another year or two.

It's funny how I can both agree with everything and dislike it immensely.

I don't see Air existing past this year, but they will have to keep some sort of Pro-like machine as not everything can be done via cloud (yet). I wouldn't be editing a movie in 4K using cloud storage ;) But in 5 years transfer speeds might be faster than SSDs. Who knows.

What would be really great was if Apple made a 4 or 5K MacBook like they did with the iMac.

The retina display on the 13" MBP is honestly more than good enough for me. I guess they can increase the resolution further as and when technology/pricing allows on a 16:10 display size, but it does seem a little bit pointless right now.

I wouldn't put blame on Intel for "screwing up" 14nm manufacturing. Personally, I'm truly amazed at humankind being able to do this kind of stuff.
Maybe it's not humankind that is behind the digital tech after all?

I would very much like to see a lower price 15 inch model.

I love having extra screen space but the base 15" Pro starts at CAD $2500 now. I barely need any more power than what the retina MacBook has... just a larger screen.

It's almost double the price of the 13" model.

14/16 inch models would be even better, with small bezels of course.

I'd rather have another USB-C port than a dedicated power port in the same space. It's far more useful.

As I think more about USB-C, even though I like the convenience of one cable doing everything for me in my own office, when traveling to places like China, being obliged to plug in a power-plus-data cable to my computer gives me the willies.

Been looking to replace a 15" 2009 Macbook Pro Intel Core Duo thats long had it's day. Been waiting years now for the proper Skylake/Broadwell update, every time it's- just 3 months, just 6 months, in January it's "probably in the third quarter". All the while there's literally millions of people completely losing their sh*t over the now seasonal ipad/iphone/iwatch everything. Having used the 15" MacBook Pro machine through 3 iterations over about 14 years- I always considered it 'the' design/creative professional de facto standard machine. Portable functional power, and I've travelled the world with it making work. First rate tool for the job. My first apple machine was £1500, second £1300, and now the retinas are £2000 for comparative spec. Does it really cost that much more to make now? Really? Considering over a decade of increases in technology and astronomical increases in economies of scale through exponential increase in production? And the OS is now full of bugs, but I can't find a powerful machine with USB3 and retina to run Snow Leopard (which correct me if I'm wrong but, that's still a very popular OS, and coincidently was prevalent before gadgets became Apple's primary market). I'm all for progress, when it actually meets the definition. But all the money in the world won't save you Apple, if you forgo what people bought into in the first place- quality and most important- functionality. Even more frustrating is overlooking what was your core customer base- professional computer users (final cut anyone?).

Further down the line, if you can't even make things that connect to wifi, and peripherals that won't sync- good luck selling your cars. We might just see a new form of hipster euthanasia redecorating the Californian coast line, beautifully sculpted mangled wrecks at the bottom of ocean cliffs that preferred to connect to the iTunes AirDrivePlayStore to find Bob Dylan instead of taking the corner at the right speed to stay on the road.

Call me paranoid maybe, but for me it's about security. Charging the thing is the only thing you HAVE to do in order to use it. I don't want the only non-optional thing I have to plug into my computer to have firmware-level access to the hardware. You can put some pretty nasty stuff on those public USB charging stations, or those third-party USB power adapters. I know it sounds silly, but where credit card skimmers were a problem in the 90's and 2000's, compromised USB chargers will be hidden in plain sight security issue in near future. iOS has decent protection against this (though not perfect), but Mac hardware so far has nothing to protect against this.

A little paranoid....

What I want in the 15" is multiple usb-c, magsafe, Sharp IGZO2 4k (so I can do true half resolution full hd that would be razor sharp), much less bezel, scissor switch keys, 32gb ram, and a high quality integrated mic, slightly louder speakers (presumably for use with siri), thinner slightly smaller overall package due to thinner bezel

I do think there will be plenty of time for Apple to announce new Mac's at WWDC, there keynote usually runs over 2 hours and they have already confirmed to be talking about IOS, OSX, TV OS and Watch OS, so after these there will probably be time to announce new Macbook and possibly iMac updates.

A perfect list of "wants". Please Apple, deliver.

The day comes near, surfacebook 2 pro or macbook pro 15, we will acordingly compare!

Its very easy to pick a better laptop over the macbook(or an alternative). The problem lies with OS X that has no alternative. I really believe its the best most stable reliable user-friendly OS X. I have been using it for about 14 years now, still don't know my way around the System Preferences.

Can't say the same about the Control Panel when I was a Windows user.
