Thanks for that waterfield designs link. I love that ultrasuede sleeve but again want a little more protection. However, their iPod slip case is somethign I have been looking for for a long time. I have the InvisibleShield protective film on my iTouch but have been putting it inside the felt bag that my GameBoy Micro came in ever since I got it. The GBM pouch works well but is a little big on each side. This waterford designs slip case seems to be the correctly fitting slim sleeve I've been after for months.

Their DS case(s) look pretty good too, I might have to return here later and get some of these.

Ruahrc, I meant this one. http://www.popwuping.com/stuff/picts/incaseair.jpg

I use it for my Air but it's advertised as being for 13" macbooks too since it's made of stretchy neoprene.

I have one of these for my 15" MBP, of course its the one made for the 15"

The notebook goes in the sleeve and the sleeved notebook goes inside a Timbuk2 bag. So far, one month of lugging around and NO MARKS on the notebook.

Whatever sleeve you pick, make sure NOTHING gets inside of it other than the notebook itself.

Since we're on the topic of sleeves... anyone have a good backpack with a dedicated slot for a laptop?

I ordered a sleeve, but I'm going to be carrying around alot of textbooks too, would like for there to be even just a separate section for a laptop in a backpack. Anyone have any cool suggestions?

Sorry to hijack the thread. :)

I have a Tumi backpack with a laptop slot in the main compartment...they make some sweet bags and stand behind their products...can be a little pricey so you may want to look on ebay.

No problem. They make nice stuff and their customer service is top notch. Their laptop sleeves are bit pricey, but they are the nicest I have handled. I have four of their SleeveCases for various machines. I also thrown my adapter and some cables into one of their medium Gear Pouches. Then I can throw whatever notebook in whatever bag without a worry.

I have the Suede Jacket for my iPhone. It is great, but I ended up not using anything at all. I just throw my phone in my pocket. The screen is resilient, but the back of the case is all scuffed up. Not really a worry for me.

AppleSac Review...

Okay, as promised, I got my AppleSac and I'll give it a tiny review.

First off, its not your conventional 'sleeve', definitely has more of a rebel feel to it, how you may ask? I really don't know, I just think it does.

The outside is made of a tough material, burlap(sp?) to be exact, same stuff used to wrap the roots of big trees during delivery I believe.

The inside on the other hand is made of a nice thick layer of what looks like sheep fur (pre-processed), although it definitely isn't, thats what it looks like.

The sleeve itself is definitely not going to protect your MBP incase of a tumble, but I don't think anyone buys a sleeve for that purpose anyways, probably more to protect it in a backpack or something.

It has a very nice snug fit, and kind of makes the MBP look nice and cozy.

My only worry is that the corners aren't completely covered when the flap is closed.

The velcro is nice and they put the soft side on the flap so your MBP should never touch the scratchy side of the velcro.

The pouch on the outside is nice, but I'm scared it will stretch easily if constantly carrying baggage, but I guess theres no choice in the matter unless you put your charger somewhere else, backpack maybe?

Anyways, hope you enjoyed the review, please feel free to ask any questions.

I am using a Speck See Thru Clear case from the original aluminum MacBook. I love Speck cases.

I've got a Speck SeeThru on the way at the moment which I planned to use with a new 13" MBP. Speck's website says it 'doesn't fit' - you seem to be using it, so what's up ;o?

Hey aprofetto, where can you buy an Applesac in Canada? I've been looking around with no luck.

Hey aprofetto, where can you buy an Applesac in Canada? I've been looking around with no luck.

I live near Toronto (Hamilton to be exact), and I have an account at this place called US Address Inc., it's right across the border in Buffalo, NY.

Basically works as you open an account and its free, and everytime you have something shipped there its $5. Pretty simple.

I think it was only $5 or something to have it shipped to that place, then $5 to pick it up, so it was cheaper than the shipping to have it come directly to Canada.

I mean, its more of a hassle obviously, so its up to you. Where abouts in Canada are you?

Received my Booq Taipan S sleeve for my 13" MBP today. It is a very nice sleeve. Not going to protect it from a fall, but for protecting it while its in a laptop bag or backpack it looks like it'll do the job well.

I still like my WaterField Designs sleeve. I now have four, a pair for Macs, one for a Dell X1 and one for a Fujitstu T2010. Wonderful sleeves. Nice fit, great material, and a smart design. I prefer the "Just Rings and No Flap" models.

Another vote for Waterfield. I have three sleeves for various notebooks, and just ordered one for a new MBP 13". I added the flap since it gives more protection. I also added the D-rings for occasional use with a strap, and they also make it easy to pull the sleeve out of my briefcase. These sleeves are perfectly cut for the particular model, and they're really well made of quality material.

Nice review... looks good!

What do you guys think of the Be.ez sleeve?

Thanks...

I have a be.ez LArobe Black Addict and I love it! 5mm of inner-lining vs. 3mm on most competitors and the memory-foam outer-layer is pretty neat.

I will say that a Unibody MacBook (Pro) may have a little more wiggle room than you may prefer, but if you throw on a protective shell like a Speck SeeThru, the extra thickness will provide for a more snug fit.

Depending on how much protection you are looking for this may or may not be useful but I use a radtech sleeve which is amazingly snug. I've been using it for about 3-4 months and have developed no slack. The only problem is that it won't help at all if you drop the laptop or anything but it will keep it scratch-free in your bag or anywhere and provide a small amount of padding. I love it.

this looks like an awesome product at a reasonable price point. Anyone else with any experience?

Hi redwings, does it have a snug fit??? because from the pic it looks like the fit is a little loose.
Thanks!

The materials on the apple sac look quality, but the open corners would concern me plus I like to unzip my sleeve and use my mbp straight out the open case, something you cant do with the applesac.

FYI I bought a sleeve off ebay, the thick memory foam with the :apple: logo on the front. was a lil sceptical of quality, but it fits fine and the zippers are covered. Its not a super tight fit...but it also doesnt slide around.

Plus for £6 including shipping....bargain! also note the the sleeve isnt my only protection...it sits inside a laptop bag too. so im not being cheap:D

Help Me Choose

DELIGHTED with my 13" uMBP purchase. Help me choose a sleeve. I intend to carry it in a backpack for light use or a hard box for road trips. Both need some kind of cushioned liner sleeve.

OPTION A: The CaseLogic sleeve noted above. Economic (@$20usd), pocket for power cable. Zipper pro or con?
http://www.caselogic.com/13_macbook_laptop_sleeve/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=120446

OPTION B: Speck Tuck (@$35usd). Has pocket and nice lining, but looks bulky for putting in a backpack. Does have straps for carrying alone, but they remind me of seatbelts.

OPTION C: Black corduroy Foof sleeve, sherpa lining (@$40usd). Fits snug, can remove from backpack without removing entire sleeve. Cool but pricey.

Opinions from a very opinionated group? :)

I would recommend the ColcaSac sleeves - i've got a few videos on them (see sig). If you don't like that kind of material, Proporta are very nice.
