i think the aluminum macbooks will be coming, but not on friday. mac would want to maximize and isolate new products one at a time. if they slam two new products, they may be shorting their maximum sale possibility. and probably more buzz will be on the macbook than leopard.

but it would still be awesome though! :p but probably in november i think is a better estimate

I really think a new MB is coming at the release of leopard. If you havent noticed, on the main apple page, the leopard announcment says:

"Add a new mac to your mac."

Basically, what it says is:

"Add a new macbook to your imac :D

That could mean any "new" mac... Since every mac you buy from Apple is basically new (refurb can go either way).

IIf we were to money on this most people would bet no on the new MB's. But here's to hopin' *crosses fingers*

Or it says, this OS is so different that it'll be like you bought a new Mac.

Yes, I agree, that's what it seems like it's saying. Not exactly true seeing as it's basically the same old OS X, but I think thats what they're getting at.
You never know with :apple: recently though, after giving everyone the Leopard release date snippet to drool over days before the official announcement.

My mom just brought up a good point...

I told her that the new MacBooks might just be gray and black, and she was like...
She really thinks they need to do color, because she wants a colorful one that stands out ...

you see the apple, "Oooo that's cool! I want one!"

Colors would be good for publicity for apple, if they just do gray and black... they will blend in, and be 'just another laptop'

I agree! I've always yearned for color.

Since the Macbook is the consumer laptop, popular in colleges and with young adults, I see this as a very good idea. Nothing o.t.t., just a few choices, possibly the iPod nano colours.

Apple should release a smaller version of the macbook pro. They had the 12" powerbook and I believe it sold well.

I would love the portability of a sub-15" macbook pro. Come on Apple, we've been speculating about this since 2006, give us our portable macbook pro!

this 12" iBook i'm using sucks. Is this thing the only sub-5 lbs notebook apple will ever release?

Anyone else think that this shift from plastic to metal has anything to do with the Greenmyapple people? It seems that all the current machines are going toward metal. I wonder if there will be some announcement at Macworld about a Greener Apple....... perhaps even a limited edition GREEN Macbook! Sorta like RED for AIDS, 10% of the GREEN iPods goes towards environmental causes or something.

Perhaps board member Gore had something to do with this?

Unfortunately Aluminium(aka Solidified Electricity) is as Green as the coal fired powerstation used to much of it .

Al Gore, a man with an Arts degree is certainly going to be knowledgeable on Scientific maters ;)

However I, the proud owner of a 12" PB want something to replace it with and currently the plastic rubbish that is the Macbook does not cut it...not only in looks but in size....so I will go for a compact Aluminium case even though it is not 'enviromentally friendly' :D

Yes, but they could theoretically run all processes needed to create an aluminum case, which is recyclable, unlike the plastic, off of alternative and renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and sea current.

Wouldn't it be fun if Apple teamed up with Coke and used recycled soda cans to create the aluminium casing for all their Macs :p
