So...with pre-orders rapidly approaching, I'm still on struggling to decide on the silver or black stainless.
I currently own a black stainless S2 and my gen 1 was silver. I liked both.

Which should I get?

If you’re interedted in the idea of buying and using a large variety of bands, go with the silver. Otherwise go with the black for it’s improved durability.

Style fexibility vs sleekness/durability.

Thanks! +1 for black. Gotta admit, my silver series 0 didn't look so pretty after a year's use.

Should be noted, though, that you can polish the silver. The black is much less likely to be scuffed at all but if it happens it’s done.

Good point! #1 for silver. I'm still leaning toward the black model, though.

Same situation. I went to the Apple store tonight and looked at the SS in Silver and Black. I currently have the Apple Watch S0 in black Aluminum and moving to a S3 with cell -

OK, I was going towards Black SS...I agree the Silver works with more bands as well as it stands out better as it is polished finish differentiates more from the aluminum. While the black SS is polished too, it does not stand out as much from the black aluminum version. One note; I was in the store and maybe if I looked at the watches under more light or sun light, I wonder if the black SS would stand out more.

Not sure what I will do - originally was going Black - but now...?

I'm going to use my SS black link band and so I have to go with black. I wish I could just buy the watch without a new band because I'm never gonna use the new band.

If I decide to get one, it'll be a silver SS - because I'm a woman and I find the black SS too masculine (even more so because the watch is very bulky). But if I were a man, I'd get the black SS. It's really just a question of personal taste.

Same. As much as I thought I would buy and use multiple bands, I never did. I don't see why they don't sell the watch alone. Wait, yes I do.

Definitely a matter of personal taste. I'm a woman I don't find the black to be masculine. I do know some female watch owners who feel the same way you do though.

I do like the color better. But with the watch being so thick, I find the black to be just a little too much. If it were flatter and smaller, I'd definitely choose the black too.

Gotcha. That was my aunt's sentiment as well. Although she got the black (it matched her phone), she felt it looked bulkier in black.

I too wish the watch was thinner. Ever since I saw someone describe it as a chicklet on a wrist that's all I can see. I have a series 0 stainless and it still looks just fine in spite of being worn nearly ever day. Personally, I'd be happy with either the black or the stainless but since I enjoy wearing several different bands, the stainless steel works best for me.

I currently have a space gray series 0 aluminum and this time around I'm going with the black SS. Not sure how I feel about the red dot but it is what it is.

I'm looking forward to the black SS after having the original space gray aluminum for so long. I think it looks better while wearing a suit or dressing up and when I go to the gym or dress casually I can throw my Nike band on it.

How durable is the black ss? I have the silver ss original Apple Watch and it has a ton of scratches, I'm very hard on it always banging into things and concrete. Amazingly the screen is still pristine which is why I'm getting another Safire, but can't decide on color. I like the black better but worry the scratches will show more.

Black stainless is my personal favorite. Mainly because of the diamond like carbon coating against scratches and has a really nice black luster shine to it.

I pre-ordered a S3 black stainless but I’m still unsure if I’d prefer the stainless. I’ll wear it at work (professional attire (i.e. suit everyday office) and during my workouts at Orangetheory. I like the durability of the black stainless (especially for workouts, etc) but the band selection for the stainless is very appealing to me. Also, I never wear black suits at work (variation of navy blue and grey suits) so I’m wondering if a black watch will clash.

If you plan on wearing the watch for 20-30 years you might as well go ceramic. I’ve always gone SS because I love changing the bands. The black watches just don’t go with many options. A cape cod cloth will take care of scratches. Look at all the high end rolexes made of plain SS. SS is fine esp for a watch that will be in a landfill in a few years anyway. I really love the blue straps and ordered the cobalt blue that will look far better on SS.

I have a ss black series 0. I have banged it into walls, door jams, etc. it still looks brand new. The DLC coating really holds up. I was impressed enough to refresh it with a SS Sries 3. Hope that helps.

For me, no brainer Space Black. I paid $550 for my space black link bracelet, need to get more years of use out of it :D

I have the space black stainless bracelet, and that has to be my favorite band that I own. It's simplistic and is easy to manage with the removal of the links.

Same situation here. I’ve been buying the space grey since series 0 and wanted the sapphire face this time. Also got the space link bracelet. I ended up just buying both and will decide which to keep when they arrive.

I do feel like the red dot goes bettter with the stainless steel vs the black however.
